What what your very first computer? Mine was back when I was 13. A friend lent it to me and then he found a great deal and bought it, so I could keep his original one. And man, was it beautiful. It was a 1997 Acer laptop, fitted with Windows 98 SE, had a diskette drive and CD-ROM drive, two USB ports, a PS/2 port, a printer port, who knows what ports, a 300 MHz Intel Celeron processor, a 2 GB hard drive and 48 MB RAM. I used it for kliking and drawing and I bit of internet surfing, altough it was extremely glitchy with a ton of sites. A visit to the repair man showed that I was very lucky to be able to surf the net at all; some of the modem was burnt!
Anyway, really nice first comp. What about yours?

I remember getting my 486 on my birthday perfectly. I got One Must Fall 2097 and Tyrian on CD! Man, that was advanced at the time. Lots of great gaming on that thing, mostly demos from magazine CDs. Settlers 2 was awesome. I think I played UT classic on it, too. Awesome.
When I was 2 or something. My mother was surprised that I could start the computer, especially since most 2-year olds could barely read and that computer didn't have a hard drive. I managed to run some game on it, Dig Dug, and my mom stopped letting me play on it when I vomited on the keyboard

First console was a VIC-20 (it was already retro when I got it - I'm not *that* old)
First pc was a "Viglen Genie 286" - it had a "turbo" button on the front that boosted the cpu to 12mhz!
Amiga 600! Excellent machine and still working too.
The only thing I remember about the first family PC was it was a Pentium 1 at ~90mhz and it was an Advent.
First personal laptop was an IBM Thinkpad for college. 1ghz Celeron, 20gb HDD, infrared port and everything! Interchangeable floppy/CD drive. And man I miss that machine now! It had backlight bleeding, no graphics power at all, just an hour long battery life but made oh-so many games on it.
First personal desktop was an iMac Core2Duo back in 2006. Still going strong with no problems at all , except its crappy graphics card.
Oh yeah, and the laptop died from being dropped out of an upstairs window. The hard drive platter blew into fragments. So I got another one on eBay for $99.99 with a bigger hard disk, more ram and a faster CPU. It came loaded with XP, and I hate it.

My first computer (got it when i was 11) was a 33 MHz IBM with 4 MB ram and 129mb harddisk. Even used, my mom paid about 5 times as much for it as you would for a computer nowadays. Oh, and there wasn't even a soundcard or CD rom drive in it, so we had to get those afterwards.
