This doesn't happen with any other games I've made before in MMF1.5 or MMF2 but all the time with ODW. Does it have to do with the controls being joystick only? I'll be playing it and all of the sudden the screen goes black to the screensaver. It happens when the screen's maximized, windowed, and when MMF2 changes the screen resolution.
Is there anyway to stop the screensaver from coming up like that?
Thanks!

No, no. I understand that I can disable my own screensaver I just want the game to count as something active on others' computers so theirs won't activate thinking they haven't been doing anything on their computers for awhile, you know?

Aw, man... I know this problem.
I'm afraid I don't know a good solution, though. There must be some way to tell Windows that you're actually doing something... that doesn't resort to mimicking keyboard input every minute or so.
If you do find a solution, I'll be interested in hearing it.

Maybe you could try having an occasional event using the mouse object, to move the mouse (while it's invisible) so that the screensaver doesn't come up. May seem kind of work aroundish, but that's because it is.

Well, the big box object will disable screensavers. I don't know if that's sufficient though, since the app could crash before it enables it again. Perhaps you could make it a checkbox so the user is aware of it. Or you could simply map a joystick button to an arrow key or something.

Actually, that's a great idea!
The mouse cursor is there, it's just invisible. I could have it move the cursor around within the gameplay area say every 5 minutes or so.
Thanks everybody!!

or you could use the big box object to disable the screensaver at the start of the game, and when the game ends, you enable it again.

Unless... the game crashes beforehand. I think this was already brought up. Also, I don't want a game messing with any of my system settings. Just the thought of it irritates me. Sorry.

We had this problem while making Faerie Solitaire and we didn't really come up with a great solution. At first I used the workaround mentioned here where you move the mouse every minute or so, so that the screensaver doesn't come up. However Faerie Solitaire also used "User has left computer since", so then I had to make another work around for that.
I would strongly recommend that nobody uses the Big Box object. Disabling the screensaver makes your exe get reported as a virus by many AV programs. Even if it is a false positive, it will make people not play your game and think the file is dangerous.

Shew, glad I didn't end up using the Box then!
Thanks Andy!
