So is anyone here entering? (or even have something ready to show off already?)
I'm thinking about it, but I have questions, and can't seem to register at gamebuilder
The rules say you have to submit just a single .mfa with no other external files.
Do you think it's okay to generate external files at runtime?
And what is this supposed to mean?
"Your frames will only interact with events contained within each of it’s own frame event editor"
I don't know if they ever specifically said anything about generating external files, but I'd bet you 100 DC points it's not allowed. I would guess the second thing is just a reiteration of the "no global events" "no scripting" "no circumventing the rules to get more code in" thing.
You can't generate external files at runtime. That's against the rules. The second thing means just what OMC said, that it won't use global events, no scripting, stuff like that. Now that I think about it, I'd like some more clarification on that as well.

Actually, it is not against the rules to generate an external file. The rule is that you must only submit one mfa file, but if it generates a file at runtime that is perfectly fine. Of course, you won't be able to get the 5 point bonus though, since java and flash don't support this.
I'm not going to be taking it too seriously, so I don't really care if I miss out on a few bonus points - just as long as it isn't disqualified altogether.
I'm not sure what the problem is with Gamebuilder. I registered, and my username and email both seem to be in the system - but for some reason I never got the email with a password, so I can't login. I've tried the "send new password" / "forgotten your password" forms, but I still don't get the emails (and I've checked in my junk folder). I don't know any of the admins to ask for help.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Sorry Ricky Jeff's responses are very curt, too. I feel kinda bad for the guys who had genuine concerns (Mecha, Baron). Look at Mecha's questions - one is about the bonus points for supporting something unreleased and impossible to test (Flash), and then he kindly asked for some clarification on rule 19 and Jeff's answer was that he doesn't give a crap if he doesn't enter. What's going on over there?

Because whenever a competition is held on Gamebuilder, someone always has to try and over-complicate things. In this case Baron von Seltsam knows exactly how the competition works (he's a member who's been around for a long time, and was when the first 20 event competition took place)and has decided to try and wind people up. As for this crap about Jeff being "curt" -he hardly was at all. Mecha really seems to be feeling sorry for himself, infact.
In that case, I think I was too quick to post in the thread. That was how I felt when I read it but there's obviously more to it than that. He's explained why and I completely understand. I'll send Jeff a message on GB.

I'd like to enter because the challenge of cramming as much crap into 20 events is very appealing to me. I just honestly don't think that I'll have time to make anything before the deadline. Good luck with your game though
