I just thought I'd start a topic concerning the review page. I recently reviewed Ladders 2, and had to delete the review and post it again before I got the eye-friendly layout I desired.

The problem is that the first field in the review page, Presentation, appears to correctly display your line breaks when the review is published, but the rest of them fail to do so. What this means is that for every field other than presentation, you need to use the HTML 'BR' tag to insert a line break, which isn't exactly user friendly. Granted, more people know how to use simple HTML tags than ever before in this day and age, but the result is a horrible, messy, textual block for a review whenever someone who doesn't know this takes the reigns. This negatively impacts the overall presentation of the site and may even prevent people from reading reviews in their entirety.

I suggest that the remaining fields in the review screen act just like the Presentation one. A formatting 'toolbox' like the one for forum posts would also be an extremely big step in the right direction, mainly because almost all of the material here at TDC is user-submitted and not everyone is schooled in the ways of HTML.

Perhaps it's a minor gripe, only the comments to this thread will tell. Anyone else got something to say on the matter?

Certainly it would be a minor fix, but even minor fixes need a coder to fix them! At the very least, thank you for bringing the concern forward.

I guess I need to learn some ASP.

I meant minor gripe, as in a minor concern. I wouldn't know behind the scenes of TDC well enough to know how difficult this is to fix, and I know nothing about ASP whatsoever.

I programmed the review system - and to be honest didn't realise the other fields didn't act like the "Presentation" one does. So it's actually a bug - not intentional. I can't fix it at the moment, but when I get a chance to I will do so (if I remember anyway - I have a bad memory). Thanks for pointing it out

I normally just write my entire review in the first box.

I figured it was probably a bug more than anything. Thanks for listening, Flava!

I tried that, Ricky, but it came up with an error saying "You appear to have forgotten to fill out all the fields" or something along those lines. Perhaps I accidentally forgot to set one of the ratings for graphics or sound or something.
