I don't like widescreen displays either (except on laptops), but I think we have to accept that we're going to be stuck with them. I also like CRT much better than LCD - I personally use a 4:3 CRT for all graphics work
i recently got my first widescreen monitor and i'll be honest, i am enjoying it! but i'm thinking ideally i'd like to use both this big monster 16:9 thing and my CRT together... best of both worlds and that.
so yeah as you would expect i was thinking about this recently, i started my game in 4:3 and now i cant full screen it without it stretching, should i go through and make it work in 16:9? if i do then what about the 4:3 masses? i havnt worked out how to (if its possible) make it work in both.
I didn't have a widescreen monitor until I got this laptop, but otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. The reason is that not all klikers have widescreen monitors and it's a deal-breaker if you make your game to a size that doesn't fit a user's monitor. As long as there's at least a slim chance that someone won't have a 16:9 monitor, we have to play to the "lowest common denominator".
I personally prefer my widescreen because I like a panoramic picture much better. This is just me though. If a picture is 4:3, I have my monitor set to not stretch it, so I'm good either way. Plus my ZuneHD and Droid are both widescreen so it's nice to have consistency across the board.
