Yeah, so what does everyone else think about it? Sonic's the only playable character, it's for the three current gen consoles as well as some other mystery console, and you can use the Homing Attack. Oh, and it's episodic.
After all that 3D dreck, I never thought this day would come! Now I REALLY need to finish the original games. I still have Sonic 1, 2 and 3, but my Genesis broke several years ago, and I still haven't gotten a "new" one... Anyway, yeah... those were the golden days of Sonic.
Fortunately, they made "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" for the current gen consoles, which has practically every Sega must-have ever, their sequels, and their arcade versions if applicable (all Sega fans really must check it out).
The only thing I'm wondering is, if it's episodic, how much will each episode contain and how much will they cost? That's one reason I haven't gotten "Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People" on the Wii, as I don't have the money to buy all five episodes...
I have Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles in an emulator on my Droid. I absolutely loved playing them when I was a kid and I know a lot of people did because every time I'm playing it anywhere, people almost immediately raise their head and ask if they hear Sonic. I'm in love with the fact that they're finally doing what we've been asking for, for around a decade now. A good old side scroller platform Sonic.
I just hope it plays more like the originals then say Sonic Rush, because even though Sonic Rush was a good old fashion side scroller platform Sonic game, every handheld Sonic seemed to kind of lack the Sonic feel that Sonic 1, 2, and 3 all had. I think it's because Sonic 1, 2, and 3 weren't all insanely fast. They had a good pace to them, and at that pace, for a hedgehog, he's still pretty fucking fast.

...or you buy one episode at a time, when you got the money for it
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

But I so seldom acquire money that I like to buy different games each time. With my latest bit of money, I got myself an indie-game/dev-capable Dreamcast with three controllers and VMU's (and Sonic Adventure, coincidentally).
...just discovered this on the Gamespot website and i'm very, very excited!! The game speed looks about right, the graphics, though not at first seemingly as good as the originals, has that "Street Fighter 4-style update" coolness and it's a DIRECT SEQUEL - that's the best bit!!
I agree with Brandon though, just hope it's more Genesis than Rush, gameplay wise..... it does look that way so far though!

This is one of the concerns i have too.
I have a feeling the animation might be terrible. I'm more concerned however about whether SEGA will once again decide everyone is happy to run from A to B at a billion miles per hour instead of designing levels that can be approached in different ways, or hey a mixture of speed and platforming in different areas. Also I hope they cut down on bottomless pits.
