Yeah sonic cd is good filler for those wanting a little more retro sonic than the genesis games can provide, but the time travel element really slows it down, especially with the sega cd's load times.
As for this game. . . from the trailer sonic's running animation looked weird. He needs to have his classic wheel animation. Also, I'm kinda disappointed that they went 3D with him. A fluidly animated 2D sprite would've been a lot cooler. The fact that they're reusing badniks is lame as well. I was hoping they would just pull a megaman 9/10 and reuse the sprites from sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles and build new levels around that. Then they could invent new enemies in the style of the old ones, without having to reuse old stuff to make the game feel more retro than it really is.
Oh, and the fact that it's download only sucks. I'll hold out for a retail release that features all the "episodes". Whatever that means.
Screamscape Sonic Spinball - Confirmed - (2/15/10) New pictures of Sonic Spinball have been posted to the Towers Times and RCPro.
(1/25/10) In addition to the official logo for Sonic Spinball being found at Kotaku, they report that not only has Sega Europe signed an excluive 3 year deal with Alton Towers for Sonic which will also include Sonic themed rooms at the Alton Towers Hotel.
(1/8/10) As odd at this sounds, Alton Towers will be rethemeing Spinball Whizzer for the 2010 season. Okay… we’ve heard that several times before, but the odd thing this time is the theme. The ride will be themed to SEGA’s famous videogame character, Sonic the Hedgehog, and be renamed as Sonic’s Spinball. You can even see a picture of the coaster being repainted Sonic Blue here. I’ve got to admit, this may actually be a good new theme for the ride… but can we have a Halo themed ride next?
