What better way to get people to submit more quality games to the arcade, than a competition?
Top 3 entries could be awarded a load of credits.

What do we think?

We've been discussing ideas for an "arcade-drive", but credits/DC Points don't seem to be much of an incentive.

The user with the best game gets the flash runtime!

That would work for me if I hadn't already bought it.

Same here, Urban. That would actually probably be enough to get me to enter such a contest.

Hmmm, may have to ask Clickteam about it.

While we wait for omc to check, that is a awesome idea. I talked to club and if we get some good news back from clickteam he is going to think of some guidelines to use when making the arcade game, but yea should be cool

I'll of course will try and do my best to promote the heck out of the compo and the games that will be submitted

One obvious guideline is to make sure it complies with the flash runtime:

Just make sure it doesn't use an unsupported extension, and that it doesn't use any incompatible actions.

Agreed. It's good to forget the Vitalize and move to Flash as soon as possible in Arcade games.

EDIT: as for the competition itself, I think it's a great way to get a first boost of content to the Arcade. I myself will be submitting a lot of games anyway with or without competitions, but I'm waiting for a high score template or similar that I can integrate to my games without the need of sending mfa files around.

Just checked out the list of supported extensions, and it doesn't seem like the Function Loop object is compatible. D: I use that extension quite extensively (no pun intended).

But yeah, as long as I'm careful, I should be able to churn something out.
