I made a custom control config based off the one in this article http://www.create-games.com/article.asp?id=1677
I can't, for the life of me, get it to work in a sub-app. All the values look spot on, but the input values don't change at all, as if player control is ignored. I'm using a 'frame of application' popup window/modal sub-app (for a pause menu) with global values & player control shared. Messed with the settings and even made it a seperate application bit the controls still won't work. Thanks in advance.

Yep. That would uh..be the first step there. I actually create them at the start of frame to keep my frame editor clean. Tried throwing them in the frame instead but it didn't make a difference.
I should mention the controls work in the sub-app if I set the input to keyboard. The joypad, however, doesn't work in the sub-app. Although.. both work if I run the sub-app frame by itself. This suggests the problem lies within using said extensions in an actual sub-app, instead of the frame itself, no?.. Hell I can't suggest anything, nothing I've tried fixed it.
Thanks again.

Sure, there's the mfa.
I had to include the control setup for testing, so just go over to the joypad tab, select it, then go down to the "pause" tab and change it to whatever you want, then go to "done". At "Main App" press your pause button to open the sub-app. You will notice pressing pause again does not close the sub-app. Strangely, it WILL close if you had selected keyboard instead of joypad..hm..
