Well, this is nothing new but I only found out about this now.
Rudy, the founder of probably the biggest archive of freeware games, Caiman.us, passed away the 3rd february.
This is shocking and truly saddening, he was undoubtedly one of the nicest, if not the nicest person I've ever come across in the internet. I'm pretty sure that anyone who knew him will tell you the same. Actually saying he was a really nice person isn't doing him enough justice at all. If there was one person that didn't deserve that fate, that was Rudy.
Just as an example, if it wasn't for him, I probably would have given up making games a few years ago. For everything he did and and for everything he meant to me, I will dedicate A Man With a Monocle to his memory and since he died of lung cancer I won't smoke a single cigarette for a week as a symbolic gesture, regardless of the fact that he died because of smoking or not.
May Rudy rest in peace...
You'll forever be remembered, buddy.
He was only 57 years old. Apparently he was deemed terminally ill by mid January, and by then there was already a note written in the frontpage of caiman.us informing the visitors about his situation. Then by the 3rd February the other site admin posted another update, this time announcing Rudy had passed away. I hadn't visited the site for quite a few months, which is why I only found out about all this today.
