What the heck is The Daily Click hosting malware?

Today I was browsing around, reading some articles when a malware link to fake windows (xp) virus scan popped up, which could be easily detected because I am browsing on linux.

Weird, I thought. But now I was trying to follow a link and my browser warned me about something suspicious:

So is TDC hosting malware? Or did something else happend?

No it's one of the ads. You're fine as long as you don't click on them.

I get the same message for the one-part.ru site but not the http://create-games.com/article.asp?id=1760 link.

Ah thanks that helped me out.

Depending on your browser, some malware may work, some may not and some may trigger a warning and some not. Since I tested with firefox and chrome and they both gave different results.

Aren't the ads by Google? And Chrome... too? So Google blocked a site because of one of their approved ads. *sigh*

I love Google, but that shows they need to be more careful with what they advertise.

It seems to happen with Chrome quite a bit. I don't see it happening with some browsers. And yeah, it's one of those ads pointed at TDC, so when you go on a page with that ad, it goes crazy. I think it's an ad directed at game sites.

Chrome is still an amazing browser though. It's not like it doesn't let you go through to the site. So yeah, don't stop using it over this.

Ads are a lot of how TDC makes the money to host its servers since no one is donating. That said, the ads are out of the way and I have no problem helping out the site. At least the flash ones are tucked away out of sight, out of mind, at the bottom of the website.

Does create-games.com get money from just displaying ads? I'll disable adblock if so, but it's still unlikely that I'll ever click on them.

Yes. Google AdSense pays for both clicks and views, aka "impressions."
