Hey DC, its been a while. Working as a designer now and was wondering if the flash exporter has been used yet to make swf websites? It seem's like all the functions are there but I'm yet to see it, so still unsure whether to purchase. Also thinking there could be compatibility issues and other bugs. Has anyone used MMF to make websites yet?

Hey yuyu. I threw together a small one awhile back for a new domain, and it worked fine.
http://jollycrouton.com/ (Oi, I need to update that. @__@)
The French Clickteam site also has some flash stuff: http://www.clickteam.fr/

Cheers Clayton, no-one could tell the difference between that and a site created with flash. I'm still unsure about buying though because I read that 'SWF apps run in a sandbox, they have no access to the system, they cannot load or save files' does this mean its impossible to create secure sites with usernames and passwords? Or is there an extension allowing access to online files?

SWFs can save information in INI files, and that's it locally. However, you can use the GET object for accessing databases and stuff!

its the same if you had coded the flash yourself. there is little to no system access for web apps. thats a given. but thats besides the point of making browser apps. if this limitation is too much then why even consider it? it does what it does, base your decision off of that, not on what it cant do.

Thanks again for your help Clayt, sounds like it can do everything I need.
Cecil what are you on about? Limitations are the most important thing to consider when forking out $500AU for a product.

what are YOU on about?! the flash exporter is NOT $500au O_o. its only $60US so i doubt its hardly even double that max in $au. unless you dont even have tgf2/mmf2/mmf2dev which is something else you should justify BEFORE you try and justify the flash runtime addon.
and what i meant is, the points you brought up for not possibly buying it are NEVER going to change. thats how FLASH works. the exporter could be free or a million$, but it will still never do the things it cant do. base your decision based on what you KNOW it does, not what it doesnt do, cause its not going to change.
it can do whatever you can do with a normal flash app coded in action script. (limited to whats already been coded in the flash runtime, which is always extensible through extensions that YOU or OTHER developers can create)
i get the feeling you dont even know how to make a "normal" website. you should never even NEED to access external files from the system within flash. you can do everything by calling javascript functions, or running HTTP requests to php/asp scripts that do any file/database accessing.

Yuyu, do you have a past Clickteam product? They still give discounts for TGF and MMF 1.5.

There was never any indication of hate yuyu. You are misinterpreting criticism and concern with hate.
You did not say you needed both. you only stated you were trying to justify the flash addon which implies you already HAVE the base software. You said nothing of needing the actual software it was for. The flash exporter is less than $100, which is more than a bargain considering the price of most other software. even 500$ is a decent price for the bundle. That was lack of clarity on your part not mine, yet you speak as if it was clear.
If you already have mmf2 and make games on a regular basis and get a lot of use out of mmf2 then justifying a 60$ addon that will allow you to make flash based content, flash websites in your case, would be completely understandable and i would say definitely go for it. But for someone who doesnt seem to have much experience or knowledge of flash or website development, to try and justify a $500 purchase to make websites, you are most likely making a huge mistake.
if you solely want to make flash websites, learn actionscript3. download flashdeveloper (its free), and get the flex sdk (also free). Take some tutorials on actionscript3. Buy a book. Make a simple Flash app/Website.
if you are interested in making games and applications as well, in the form of executables, java, and flash, and will use mmf2 to its fullest extent then yes. go ahead and get mmf2+swf.
