Okay so I'm wanting to create a similar effect similar to this

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5505419/Example%20of%20Homing%20aura.png

[ This is not mine by the way ]

However, When I do, if you go to fast, the image breaks up when being created and isn't therefore smooth. I've been trying to think of a way to solve this or some up with a method for the creation based on your speed perhaps? I'm not really sure.

But I was wondering if anyone knew any other ways of achieving it?

Thanks in advance.

Is HWA absolutely necessary for this?

If you're just creating an object over and over maybe you can try creating the object at a quicker rate based on how fast you are moving?

Or you could try using action spots and spread values and position each subsequent object at the previous ones action spot.

Maybe I'm not understanding what needs to be achieved here.

A steady stream of an effect, no matter how fast you are going.

Yes. Unless you have a special extension which can do this effect, the amount of objects you'd need to properly create this effect smoothly would be far above what Standard rendering could handle smoothly (in a game atmosphere). HWA dramatically reduces the amount of stress each object has on the games performance.
