I think Adam was talking about the playthrough on Youtube since there isn't a trailer as far as I can see. I also had problems running the game so I had to watch the playthrough.
The game looks incredible. Every Konjak game I see, I think "He must have reached his peak now. This is as good as a 2D game is ever going to look". It happened with Noitu Love 2, then Solar Plexus, and now Iconoclasts. It does remind me of Noitu 2 and Legend of Princess a little, especially the way bosses explode (same sound effects?) Maybe I'm just getting used to his style or I've played Noitu too many times. I'm amazed that Konjak had the motivation to remake Ivory Springs after canceling it, but it's a definite improvement in every aspect.
I wonder why he moved to Construct, though. Iconoclasts looks incredible and there are so many things going on at any one time, but there wasn't anything I saw that couldn't have been done in MMF, and I'm not even exaggerating the capabilities of MMF to make it sound better. Perhaps it was just easier to make the game in Construct, although I don't know much about it. I've heard that it has a "bones" system which would obviously be a help to Konjak and his complex bosses.

If that was the case he'd knew there is more than one boss.
I really, really love this. It worked fine for me but in my opinion compatibility is always an issue. The thing I always liked about MMF is that the games/apps work on any decent pc. Hardcore gamers might be up to date with all the direct x jive, but an audience might just include non-hardcore dudes as well.
Anyway, damn, this game makes me feel really bad at making games.
Yeah I love this too, very Konjakie indeed.
I totally agree with Hayo on the compatibility issue though, I got some serious fps droppage in the desert area, very uniform too! After entering a new screen it runs top-notch for a few seconds, then it just drops to like half fps rate for the remainder of time spent in the area. Anyone else experience it?
Wish I could get graphics like that, to go with gameplay like mine
Unfortunately, mostly solo driven projects are always going to fold towards a single strong point. His graphics are very pretty but the game isn't treading any new ground
Well I trod all that ground about 10-20 years ago what with the SNES and all.
I just can't find myself playing another game like that, but maybe younger generations who weren't so exposed to it can appreciate
I can see your point. What makes me love these kinds of games is to be it is like they take off where the 16 bit era ended. Games have to move on tech-wise for the sake of commerce a lot of the time and I think we skipped some interesting steps that way. I always wondered what would have happened to games if we stayed in the SNES/MD era a few years longer. Dudes like Konjak and Bernie make the kind of games I imagine in that spot.
