So how do you pay your bills? How much do you like doing that for a living?
Me personally, I am a career counselor and instructor for a local non-profit organization, and I love every minute of it. I've been doing this work for four years now, and I think I've found the kind of work I was meant to do. Happiness truly is when you write your own job description, and your boss enthusiastically signs off on it.
Are you paid to do what you love? If not, what do you really want to do for a living?

I am a highschool teacher, history and art (and sometimes TGF2). I like teaching, I love my colleagues and I get enough money for it. On the other hand, management and organization of this school is pretty bumpy, which leads to a graduation percentage of around 77% and lots of unhappy teachers. So I guess I love what I should be doing.

I generally enjoy general labor (as opposed to retail), since I'm out of the wheel chair, I work on a small farm (about 5 acres) that is just starting up. The property has been vacant for quite some time, it's to the point where the weeds are the size of small trees. Currently we are simply repairing the fence line before we can bring in the animals(which should be ready to be transferred by next week), which consists of several horses and a mule, about 8 goats and two steers (named 'lunch' and 'dinner'). The property also has tons of hidden treasures in the over, probably a few hundred or a few thousand worth of scrap metal (there's even a small boat just sitting in there, rusting).
I enjoy the work, it's quite rewarding (unlike working in retail). I wouldn't like to stay working in it forever, so hopefully some of these games I'm putting out will sell at least enough to live off of.

I don't have a day job.
Don't even know what my ideal job would be, which I think is part of the problem.
Currently designing the graphics on some badminton rackets, but don't make any money out of it - just get free rackets, etc.

@Horrendous Games
Is that an organic farm perhaps? Or perhaps someone's hobby/retirement farm? I just curious, I figured it would have to be an organic operation to be self efficent, what will all the pointless mass hysteria over GMO crops and such driving their prices down
Anyway, I work on a farm with an agreement with my parents of trading my labor for gas, insurance, and college money. We operate 700 acres(which by modern standards is small to medium in size) we run about 110 head of cows and all the acres not devoted to cattle are for are growing hay, which use to feed the cows and sell excess to local farmers. We currently also own 17 horses, but have owned upwards of 25 in the past. So I guess it's more of a ranch than a farm, but it's a rather low income operation that barely pays for all the family to live on. Luckily my mom is employed for a conservation organization which helps pay for a lot of our needs.
I am going to college in pursuit of an Agricultural Education major and an International Agriculture minor. I am currently still pursueing my associates degree. But in oder to become a high school teacher I will have to bachelors at least. I have decided that my goal in life is to help other people. I plan to do whatever career best helps fulfill that. The Ag. Ed. degree is very broad so I can do a lot more than be a teacher with it. I'm hoping I can find something overseas with the International Ag. minor though, I would love to travel the world. There's so much out there I've never seen and so many people I've never met.

It's strictly animals for now, he mostly just buys/sells them, that and farm equipment. One event in particular, we drove out to Iowa for a court date (which he didn't even actually have to be there, could thank the lawyer for that one) and on the way back he spied a 2 horse trailer for $350, bought it for $150 and sold it back in Illinois for $1000. Most of his life he's spent taking care of and shoeing horses, most of the horses hes owned have either been given to or bought very cheap from former clients. He gets most of his income working on the larger farms in the area, so I guess you could say it's more of a hobbyist farm than anything as it is now.
They are debating on doing crops, but we still have to get the land ready first.

I have been working at Rare ltd for a couple of months now, and its a lot of fun. The one downside is that I have no time to work on my own games anymore, but that would be the same with any job I guess.
Many of my collegues are from other parts of the world, and have a lot of experience in the games industry. Its interesting to find out about past places they have worked and where to avoid. The location is lovely too, and the staff are really treated well.
So yes, I guess I am being paid to do what I love, although no one I work with ever talks about pay, its about experience and dedication to the game. If you're only bothered about money you may aswell work in some supermarket job somewhere.

Say hello to...oh, actually, never mind.
Did Rare not foist a non-compete contract on you upon employment? That's pretty decent of them if they didn't.

Ok gotcha
So is this farm in Illinois then I take? If so anychance you could actually say something as to where it's located. I'm living in west central Illinois actually. I might know the owner, a lot of the farmers across the state know each other actually

It's up in Belvedere, his name is Craig Serotzke. I want to say he's in his late 20s or 30s.

I'm an SDET at Microsoft (Software Development Engineer in Test; similar to the vanilla development role, except our code is used to test their code). I relocated to the other side of the globe for the job, and so far it has been fantastic. I've learnt a lot and met some really clever people- of course there's some churn here and there (as many jobs have), but overall I find myself really enjoying it. It definitely consumes a lot of time (averaging something like 50 hrs a week), so it's not super easy to find time for making games etc. There's always time for lurking though

I do outdoors right now as no one pays much these days on a country that 60% percent of the people are smokers...
I get a good sum of money every month as a cover-up insurance as others have failed to provide a stable occupation to our residents.
Nothing really wrong actually, I'm just surrounded by losers.

Just been made redundant from my job as a baker. Currently in the process of trying to move to a town which isn't in a twenty year recession, and where the life expectancy isn't ten years lower than the national average.
