In the interest of posting something to these forums that doesn't consist solely of "hey guys, I'm old!" here are some of my more recent forays into pixel graphics.
A while ago I decided I was going to teach myself to make games in flash, so as a little test I started working on a game I was calling "Toast Vs. Egg". I didn't have much of a plan. I was just doodling stuff and playing around with getting some controls down. Here's a sheet with most of the graphics I created for it: http://ijusthadaterriblethought.com/images/kyle/toastgraphics.png and here's what I ended up actually making in flash: http://ijusthadaterriblethought.com/images/kyle/toast01.html
It's really not a "game" at all. The background just scrolls forever. There's some very screwed up collision detection (you can get hit by that flying egg) and a pause menu. The menu is pretty cool.
Controls:
Arrow keys for runnin' around.
Space to jump.
Control (command on a Mac? I dunno) to make the little toast guy duck in his toaster, or to "use" items in the menu.
"1" key to pause (not the number pad "1") and bring up the menu.
You can scroll through the menu items with left and right, and you can change the size of the ring of items with up and down.
Later I started toying with the idea of making a Final Fight style arcade brawler based around a podcast I host with a friend of mine. Here are some of the graphics I made for that:

Again, I was pretty much just doodling ideas as they came to me. The large dudes with all the muscles are 100% accurate portrayals of me and my buddy. I'm the one with the sunglasses. The taller skinnier dude obviously isn't finished and has some issues, especially his melty-looking right hand. The smaller version of me was made when I decided the characters needed to be smaller to free up some space on screen. This one never got to the point where I actually coded anything. I have no follow through.

It's a shame you only finished that one small 2-bit game. You have talent!

That's some really exceptional pixelart
Have you considered teaming up with someone? It might be an idea, if you're not good at finishing projects on your own. Talented pixel-artists are always in great demand around here.

Thanks guys!
I've partnered up with people in the past, but I'm kind of a flake. My attention span is mostly the reason I don't finish anything. By the time I start making progress my brain is already off dreaming up a new project. I also get discouraged easily. Still, if somebody has a really great project they're working on that needs art I'm not 100% opposed to the idea.

Cald, would you be interested in completing artwork for a game like this one?
http://create-games.com/project.asp?id=1632
It's been a while since I've updated it, but I should still have the source code somewhere. It would be nice to finish the game. My pixel skills aren't the best by far, and it would be nice to have someone else take on the graphical efforts.

s-m-r: I sent you a mail (letter? message? whatever) so as not to turn this thread into a project discussion.
