Way too early to say. It just looks like a generic platformer at this point. It's still missing all the elements that make or break a game of this type - the enemies, level design, presentation, etc...

Ha, cheers Chris. One of the levels is non stop bounce boards...kidding.
As an aside, here is a new dev video of my actual proper big project. I used your smooth scrolling code from that pOrtal example you sent me. There arent any graphics in at this time, and I die a few times. But i'm solicing opinions at the moments for how it looks.

The video above looks great fun, though. Did you make the engine yourself? I hope you can make some fun levels for it!
Cheers Nim, yeah I built a platformer engine in MMF2 that I nicknamed SteamTrain. I'm working on a couple of games at the same time so each time I learn something new I go back and build it into SteamTrain so each time I create a new game I have the engine ready. This video is for a game I'm calling SPB at the moments and its lots of fun!
FlameBoy has had more work done to it, and the character now has a burn up ability that will be used for problem solving. I'm trying to make it more metroidvania, this will be a flash game/newgrounds release. Your right, visually at the moment I've just used blocks but the final would have hand drawn graphics.
Sounds great! You've done a great job with the engine so far, I can tell that it plays really smoothly. The level itself also looks nice and compact. I'm personally a fan of small Metroidvania games with a lot of backtracking. I'm working on one now actually but I'm finding the level design quite tough to get right! Good luck with yours

Hi Nim
Do you want some help/some ideas/want to work on one together? I can't promise a lot of time but happy to help where I can. Same goes for anyone on here, I do graphics and sound too (not pixel graphics tho, too much for me!)
You can see some art I've done from other games on my blog. The link is in my signature.

Thanks a lot for the offer. I think my game is going alright, just slowly. My main setback to this litle hobby these days is having any time for it :/
