I have got a button object and an active object in the form of a cursor controlled by the keyboard.
I want to move the cursor over the button object.
It does not matter what I do, the active mouse pointer goes behind the button.
I have tried different layers and specified that the active object must always be in front of the button.
Still not working.
Any Ideas?

All the standard windows controls (button/list/edit box/etc) are always drawn on top of everything else - there's nothing you can do about that.
However, it's very simple just to replace the button with an active.

I appreciate your quick response.
A pitty...The button object just make things so easy using sub menus and click animation.
Time to create my own I guess.
