This should be something that we all do. Just pop out a game when the idea strikes. If it has potential, you can always develop it fully later. Are you going to make follow ups?
Send me feedback on my latest game, It Never Ends.
As for follow-ups, well I wanted to do a Mountain stage and a Beach stage, but ran out of time and steam. If the game is well-received, I ought to revisit it and add those two stages or whatever. I don't really feel any legitimate pressure to continue it, although I would like to use the engine for a Commando remake - called "Going Commando," featuring underpants in some way.
Basically, I was pleased that I was able to finish up something in that time frame. It's been a while since I completed something for a gamejam. I recommend them to everyone else. Find some inspiration and motivation here:
Yeah, I did finish the first "chapter" in time for the gamejam. I do think I want to come back to it, although I want to finish a game for the TDC Scrolls first. I originally planned three stages: Desert, Mountain, and Beach, all three of which are referenced in the original Anabasis text (the inspiration for RLH). We'll see if anything comes of it.
As for finishing quickly, you should see some of the other games finished for the gamejam. If you thought my game was impressive, have a look at some of these little gems:
