Okay, one of the things that I see on many game sharing sites or forums is clones, mainly of Minecraft or Five Nights at Freddy's and I don't want people to make the same mistakes. It's fine to be inspired by a game, and maybe use some of its mechanics, like the cameras in FNaF or mining in Minecraft, but try to make it not a carbon copy Add on to it. Make a whole new game, I don't care, but I suggest you try something different with the mechanics or make a whole new game that hasn't been done before.
I'll probably update this later.

Almost all popular games are built off of ideas from other games. FPS comes to mind. I honestly don't care either because with every new iteration the idea has the opportunity to get better. I personally didn't care much for the gameplay in FNAF, but there could be a similar game that comes along that adds something to the gameplay that makes it more fun for me. Plus if people enjoy the clones then what's the problem?

I disagree using carbon copy elements of a game like minecraft. Can make the mechanics of the game easy for the player to pick up on. Where game clones go wrong is they forget they are really artist.

I'd say there are a very few games which should never ever be cloned under any circumstances - "Tower Defense" and "Flappy Bird" immediately spring to mind.
In most cases though, if you think you can put an original spin on an existing genre, then why not go for it?
The only other thing I'd say, is that if you make a rubbish, derivative game, you don't have to inflict it on the gaming public. Likewise, if someone else releases a rubbish, derivative game, you don't have to play it or comment on how rubbish and derivative it is.

i wish i could come up with a good idea to do with flappy bird. The reason being everyone hates it strongly. I see that hate as having the ability of being used to evoke emotion.

There isn't anything you could do to make Flappy Bird good. I mean, there are plenty of things you could do using the basic movement - but then you end up with a clone of Joust or Lander or something else - it wouldn't be a Flappy Bird clone any more. That's why I mentioned it.

I wrote a flappy bird clone for iOS. It's terrible, but it did make me a bit of cash in advertising. Pretty good for a few hours of work:

Yeah, I've seen some terrible games, even though I just joined, I have been making games for a long time. FNAF and Minecraft are okay, yet they got too much popularity and so they get fanboys/fangirls,and they get inspired, and they make a game, and it's terrible.
So, i think that they get inspired, try to make a game, and fail. Why? It's most likely their first time coding.
ok this was a terrible reply but you get the idea
pure trash
