So I got to a section in the game where you would basically have to fly down to stop some more aliens, and once that sequence starts, my game crashes.
Is this like an ending to the game, or is the game THAT old that it couldn't even load that section?

No, it isn't supposed to crash. The game has a short ending followed by some very short credits. After that the game restarts.

Then how am I supposed to complete the game if it does the same thing all over again?

The game has cheats but I can't remember exactly what they are... I think you press numbers to jump to their corresponding stages.

I may try them out for curiosity, now that you mentioned them.
