Hey hi! I thought I'd stop by the The Daily Click for the first time in a long time! So yeah, I'm Jonny Smeby, and I used to be pretty active on TDC oh, who knows, a decade or two ago? So maybe this post will be more interesting to those of you who have been around a while.
A little about myself: I first began posting games and things here QUITE a lot starting in 2004. I discovered Klik N Play thanks to my dad (who passed away in 2022) who received a CD rom version from his friend. I began messing around with it and was AMAZED by the thought of potentially making computer games! So I kept making progressively less garbage games across the evolving iterations of Klik programs for about 20 years! Looking back, I was pretty cringe. I was still figuring myself out while posting in forums and games that reflected some unrefined traits and values, let's say that. Some of the games made in that time were an autobiographical RPG called Jonny RPG and it's arcade-like "sequel". I eventually figured things out and what I stand by and I've been happier ever since. During that time I made games such as Mega Mulder Games (formerly slated to be called Mind Menace) and my unfortunately abandoned dream game, Friendship Adventure. It was great being part of the community and making along side other designers and still stay in contact with some people I've met here!
What I've been up to (for anyone who cares): I took down my personal website (look it up on wayback machine, jonnycomics.com) and a number of other social media sites in favor of posting on a private account on IG for many years. I'm content with sharing my creative works with closer friends than the general public. My games aren't hosted on Itch.io anymore either, so you'll have to ask me if you want the link to download what games I have still that I've made.
Something I did get into surprisingly is making music! Thanks to my game project Friendship Adventure, I got into really enjoying the process of learning how to make music on my own. My stuff is often a combination of Chipmusic, live instruments, keyboard, and found audio. I sing now, too! You can find my music on the internet under Jonny Smeby, including Spotify, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud (jonny-comics). Oh, I got into making films, too. Most are not on youtube though (@jonnycomics also), because if copyrighted music  Anyway, I'm still drawing and occasionally make comics books still. But Jonny RPG still lives in my sketchbooks as a crudely drawn comic I draw to make sense of real-life stuff.
What I'm working on: No game projects. I actually had sat down to make a sequel to Jonny RPG in 2024 (to mark it's 20th anniversary) but life changed when I began dating my friend-turned-best-friend of 4 years! She's an artist and comic artist who draws surprisingly similar to me! So imagine there are two Jonnys now, basically like that  Now we make music together (see: Lunch Wish and soon to be released Press Continue). Now I'm just drawings and making music and videos sometimes. It's fun to share my cringe old works with her and other new friends who had no idea about how I was before. These works are kind of like time capsules of our old selves (good and bad). Life is really good (as can be in this life) and I still work at what I believe in. Glad I met a lot of the peeps here!
