I have a couple of questions. Which is best, using the regular play wav thingy in Tgf, or using DMC2 to do it ?
opviously, DMC2 has an advantage since you could compress the .WAVs to MP3s and save space.
What other (dis)advantages are there ?
and: Can you use wildcards in DMC2 ? like, if i have 3 sounds called punch1.mp3, punch2.mp3, and punch3.mp3, could i then ask DMC2 to play Punch?.mp3 ?

the built in stuff is very buggy, so just use it if you think that can protect your files (it can't but most people don't know how to get them out anyway so it's a bit more secure)
i'm not sure about wildcards but it's very unlikely, use TGF's random number generator instead:
"punch" + str$(random(3) + 1) + ".mp3"
this will play punch1.mp3, punch2.mp3, or punch3.mp3 at random

the problem is that DMC limits the number of channels you can have. so you can only load a max amount into it at the start of the game. i reserve it for mp3s and sounds i want with different mixing affects. the rest of them i use the in built thing.

it's automaticly done if you check the option in Game Setup that allows you to play multiple sounds at once

Tigerworks is making a Directsound extension, if you ask him nicely he might be able to build a TGF version.

You dont choose which channel the sounds come out of, they just play through an empty one
