I noticed that when you cant see an npc on screen he stops moving altogether, is there any way around this?

It may be because the "Inactivate object while out of play area" tick box is checked, it's in the scrolling options so check it out.

Right click on the npc. Then go to his scrolling options, under properties.

There was a problem with one of the older Clickteam programs where the "Inactive if too far from screen" was inverted (i.e. on was off, and off was on). So if it's off and it isnt working as you would expect, try switching it on, even though that doesnt make logical sense according to the checkbox description.
