a pretty newb question i'm guessing..... but i can't get the global values to carry over into the next frame when i use this extension. does every one of my frames need to have the object in it? does this only give you more values for 1 frame at a time? please help out, or refer me somewhere if there is an explination for this. thanks.

Can't you just use the 16 given to you? You'll rarely need over.

1000 Global Values extension is buggy.

if you've used up the 16 you get, use an INI. there's plenty of articles out there, if you get stuck.

I had to transfer +60 values from one level to another, so I tried using the 1000GBV object. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

I use the Datastore 2 object from cellosoft now.

whew i was going to use that object for my game in the making
i wont now

inis work really well and are easy to use

if you have counter 1

you can set the inis group to "whateveryoutype" and then set the value to the counters value

all you need to do to load it is set the group "whateveryoutype and then set the counter to ini value.

you will need a new group for each number you want to save.

[File]
...[Group]
......[Item]

[File=".\SavedGames.dat"]
...[Group=edittext$("Character Name")]
......[Item1="Health" value]
......[Item2="Experience" value]
......[Item3="Level" value]
......[Item4="Magic Ability" value]
......[Item5="Profession" string]
......[Item6="Gender" string]

The only problem is inis are not naturally encrypted, so it's easy to hack your saved game.

Edit: Dots to show spaces

Yes, but it was more for structure description...Andyuk didn't mention items went in groups. The [] were for separating the dots and spaces(which were causing problems).

The above example would actually appear like:

[Ralf]
Item1=14
Item2=0
Item3=1
Item4=100
Item5=Bard
Item6=Male

in D:\Click Team\TGF 32 Bit\Games\RPGS\RPG\SavedGames.dat

D: being the downloads/click-games drive in my computer.

Edit: Is it just me or does this forum not take line breaks well when there are lots of spaces?
