i was thinking the other day (as i sometimes do)... is MMF too generic? are its multimedia features wasted?
i mean, did you know you can play DVDs with it? and if you go to the new object menu, there are shitloads of objects that will, multimedia speaking, enrich your application.
but that, for me, is the problem. what do we use MMF for? i think nearly everyone uses it to create games, and little else. slideshows are easier with powerpoint, applications with VB. yet MMF has all these features which few people use. "the games factory"... well, that was that. it made games. and did a good job at it.
does MMF need all the features it boasts? wouldn't a game specefic creation tool be better, without all the multimedia bells and whistles?

When I was in 6th Form I used MMF to demonstrate an Art presentation. However, it wasn't very good, as I wasn't that great a klikker at the time, and I had only just purchased said product.
I've used the multimedia features on more than a few occasions - however, you never really know about people who do it because the presentations/interactive shows they make don't upload them onto the internet. Our perception is that 'nearly everyone uses it to create games', though we can't ever say this for certain because of the aforementioned fact, especially if you only make games yourself.
MMF is generic but it has power because of the extensions, and without the extensions it would be primarily a game-creating tool.
i guess the name suggests "a fusion of different kinds of media", so you could argue that it isn't just meant for game making

I don't think so. At the CT forums their are many posters who use MMF for things besides games. They just don't come here because this is a games site.

Exactly, there could be people out there in the real world making amazing applications, demonstrations, slide shows/presentations, etc. but do not even post their stuff on the net, especially not the daily click (cause it's mostly a game site)
Example: My dad made a program with MMF to demonstrate newtons laws to his 8th grade science students.
gizmo has made an app, with MMF its in the previews section. And will be out in its full in octoberrrr.
+ Youre forgetting Turbo HTML+, HTML Forge, Tr1xy HTML, Blah HTML, Egg HTML, foo HTML and every other HTML under the sun. (I chose a sensible name like iPublish )
But there are tons and tons of games, which are good. And a lack of originality in apps, but i am straying away from these and i havent seen ANY slideshows.
MMF is a great tool tho and exts make more stuff possible.

I like its genericness. It gives me a lot of the flexibility I need, though I'm starting to use the 3rd party extensions more these days.
But yes, it could be better if they put a little bit more focus into it, like fixing those nearly useless movement engines.
