The only good thing about the new one is the speed and the graphics i prefer the old ones like sonic 1,2,3,knucles,etc than Adventures, well adventures 1 was good but that 2 battle thing for the gamecube wasn't that good i liked it but not as much as the classics.
All the game companies are thirsting for money, and the money is in blood that pours like a waterfall out of a papercut. But we all know who is keeping the real gaming alive, us. None of us are making any serious money, so we make games for a whole different reason. No matter how bad games get, we will be here (Hopefully) keeping the oldschool gameing alive. If theres anybody who doesnt apreciate oldschool gameing, then they are not worthy of talking to me, lol.
We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams...
I'm not too fond of the true old skool hack and slash games, but all the new ones have been pretty crappy lately. So far, the best ones I've seen are the ones around the late 90s and a few recently. Ya know, Dungeon Keeper 2, Fallout series, The Sting!, Simcity 4.
But maybe JonWoG's right. It's probably just a little drop... hopefully. I'd just like to see a really good RPG that I wouldn't have to work on. Knowing every single secret and every reaction in a RPG kills half the fun, but I guess that's replaced by the fun in making one. Maybe someone will make something from the engine that Temple of Elemental Evil uses.
I'm not really one for shooters anymore. All you do is shoot someone, then run around shooting someone else, and so on. Too repetitive. Hopefully, HL 2 is as good as it looks.
But I guess Snerlin's right too. The big companies will just overshadow the small companies or buy them out. I still despise Infogrames (now Atari) for buying out Microprose and completely killing off the X-Com series. X-Com still had plenty of power in it... they just threw it away with that X-Com Enforcer piece of crap. Who knows, maybe Wizards of the Coast will be bought out by the new Interplay, meaning that most of us won't even be able to enjoy good old AD&D.
Tina:
Fallout Tactics was no Fallout 3. Cool game, best engine I've seen, but no RPGism. I wouldn't call the upcoming Fallout: BoS a part of any Fallout game; it's just a gimmick.
Rycon:
We're not keeping the gaming alive. It's those PS2 and Xbox fanatics who are. As it is, they're completely brainwashed by ads, which means like easy-to-make games where they just run around killing people. Not a problem to me, if only there was more to it.

games are gettin crustier than danish bread.
But theres always Dues Ex 2 and Half Life 2 to look forward to.
If ofcourse you want to spend $2000 upgrading your nVidia driver to run them.
See the real problem here is nVidia and more recently ATI. They buy off developers with their amazing chips and make all us gamers fork out great wads of cash.
I doubt im going to play Half Life 2 until 2005 becuase specs will be just too high.
Game developers have really got to get their priorities straight!

half life is supposed to be able to run on a really low spec machine (700mhz). but obv. you'd need a higher end one to see it in GLOURIOUS full details. i might invest in some more RAM + a new video card for my comp. i need them anyway .
Hayo, you teach retards, and the way you always mention yourself as a teacher makes me wonder if you're really 48 rather than 20..
Just because you are a teacher it does not mean you have to be totally mature, drink coffee and be a total prick, I mean if you're good enough to sell pot, get stoned and make games based on girls no one care about, surely you're good enough to play modern video games..
jon, that was a joke. But I am getting too old to really get into most of the newer games, plus I don't have time too play them cuz I am too busy drinking coffee, selling pot, act like a prick and creating games dedicated to friends.
I honestly think that the better games (for the most part) are coming out on home consoles. The computer game industry has been rubbish lately, only HL2 and Sims 2 seem to interest me. It's strange though, PC games started becoming more like console game, and at the same time Console games were becoming more like PC games.
The klik sites are the main things keeping retro gaming alive. We don't sell this, we don't sell out-we make games for fun. Also, f you get 3D oftware, the range of visualeffects makes you horribly abuse it. And dave, I hate square. They bought enix, which killed the dragon warrior series ( i think). And in my opinion, the gore isn't too bloody unless it tops manhunt for PS2. God, that game is gross.
Remember, there's a little darkness in all of us... we just express it best.
