Well I dunno but they gave me a little plate and it has a picture of that little Mens Toilets dude with a lightening bolt through his head... still not sure what my handicap is.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
Ratings are the stupidest thing ever. If people want a popularity contest, let them do it themselves - otherwise they'll complain to the admins that their rating is wrong and they're much more 1337 than da n00b f00 who submitted stupid quizzes and a game starring a bouncing foetus.
A rating that tells you how good you are at click products would never work, one reason is alot of guys dont even post there good work on TDC, you look at there profile and look and they have no amazing games up, you think they suck when its not true. I judge people on how many explination points you use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol jk
We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams...
I say lose the ratings altogether. I don't see how a note of participation makes any difference, there are plenty of high-ranking members who are complete morons. If you look at the code-it forum, newbies come up with the right answers as often as anyone else. The well-known members are well-known, that's it. I don't need a rating to tell me that.
A "Member for X months" does the job just as well, and far more impartially.
I comply with Radix. The rating system is completely useless for most members. I newer use it for anything as it means nothing. So what if you have a high "participation" level. That does not mean youve done anything good. Also helpful posts in the forum means nothing acording to the rating system.
The amount of processing time and database space far outruns the usefulness. Simply dumb it. A "member for X months" or even more simple "member since xx/xx/xxxx" would be much better. That would show how long a member had been a member and would most likely tell something about the standard to expect.
If you knew, I would have to kill you...

Go Pete! Ratings rule! Without ratings, the competition that exists in the real world of game dev would end! Two different ratings( one for participation and one for skill) would be a good idea though.
Ratings make me sick! It's so rude! Its like putting a label on people, you could be king dick of clicking but only just find this site, sign up then be treated like shit because you look like newbie when trying to give people advice.
Yeah, how dare you degrade newbies by labelling me one. How insulting for the poor newbies. We were all newbies once Pete, can't you just leave them alone! THEY DON'T DESERVE THIS SHABBY TREATMENT!!! SHAME ON YOU!
