Hey folks,

I'm still pretty new to the community and to game factory. Been using game factory for the last several months and have found this website absolutely invaluable. I'm currently working on a new sound plugin for tgf as I have had nothing but issues with DMC2. And of course because of the expense of DMC2 and the dll it comes with.

I'm working on a plugin that uses a newly written dll file and allows for standard wav playback using openal/directsound and will also have ogg vorbis playback for music playback. I wanted to know if people might be interested in a plugin of this nature as I am thinking of commercializing the plugin when I am done with my current game. Don't worry folks...I'm not gonna charge some outrageous amount of money for it. How much would people be willing to spend for a plugin like this for commercial use? Questions...comments? Thanks everyone.

It sounds like a good idea and I think some people may be interested but I would never pay for any extension.

The plugin would be free for non-commercial use.

well 99% of games are made as freeware so i doubt you'd get many commercial interests. if it's good enough you might consider it, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

Most of the people willing to spend money have mmf 1.5 not tgf; if you make a version for that then maybe you will have better luck selling it...

I was planning on porting it to MMF as well. For my needs I've written it in tgf. I know many people who might find it useful that still use tgf. If I can make some money back then that's good, but I think I really want to give back to the community. I know most of the people who use tgf don't really sell their games commercially. Just trying to help the community and maybe make a little on the side. Any thoughts on what people might want from such a plugin?

I would want, .MOD .IT MP3 and perhappes others, playback....

Then I would maybe consider paying for it.
DMC2 I liked for it allowed for multi.play back of different codes. (eg. MOD files)
Its too expince for a dude who does this stuff for fun thou....

The one in TGF plays Midi's and Wav's just fine.... I wouldn't want an extention that does what TGF does perfect....

I've never had much luck with the wav playback in tgf. If you want to play more than one sound at the same time it doesn't much like it. Where I'm coding it using openal I was thinking of adding implementation for positional sound, but I'm not sure if that would make much sense in a 2D game.

If it had the ability for directional sound and did not require bass.dll then I would probably buy it.

Yes, many 2D games on the Super Nes used directional sound, so it is used in 2D games.

I think I'm ready for some testing on this plugin. If anyone is interested in doing some beta testing with please contact me. It currently works with playing back wav files and streaming ogg vorbis playback for music. Let me know if your interested in testing. Thanks.

I have tried to make the plugin very simple to use. I am very interested in feedback on it for any problems or desired features.
