Hey everyone, I'm curious, how fast is your connection?
I'm asking because in the past month or so many people have said they won't bother downloading "large" files. What they specify as large is quite different from what I would though(large = 200mb ).
So how fast is your connection? Mine is 1.5mbit(~170kb/sec)Telus ADSL, and is dirt cheap in canada(the price of dialup).
uh... well mine jumps all the time, it can go anywhere from 0 kb per sec to about 300 kb per sec... OMU is a local isp for the city of Owensboro... cheaper then AOL too
The cable where I live jumps from street to street. My street's line connects to one with heavy traffic, that pulls off a max of 34kb/sec.(which is why I have ADSL)
I know someone across town that gets 680kb/sec though, all the time.

i'm on 512k ADSL which gets me 50kb/sec downloads. it's not a bad price either, £21.99 per month.
Ive got a 2mbit/512kbit (down/up) ADSL connection supplied by a danish company (I live in Denmark). The ISP is called Cybercity.
I cannot complain about the speed at all, even though I live in the country. The price is around £60 a month ... but then again ... Denmark is not known for its cheap internet suppliers .
Mine's so quick, my 'downloads' finish in only 4 thrusts.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,

Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
56k and proud, plus I can't afford it because unlike alot of folk I know with fast internet, mummy and daddy don't pay for it. I have to fork out the 17 quid a month for AOL and I'm only 16. Ah well, some folk get it easy...

Goddamn you to hell 'Newbie' DC Rating... Go up, UP DAMN YOU!
I have a 56k modem but it only connects at a 28,ooo connection...sucks really cause im lucky if I can pull 2.2KB/s on downloads...
My parents are paying about 25 bucks canadian which I think is a rip off for we get only 20 freakin hours of use!?!?!
We live in the country...hmmmmmm.... any way to get a faster connection for cheaper or the same or a litle more price?

It's mostly in cities I think, but it's also in many small towns(2000-10000 people). How rural are you? Telus probably wouldn't stretch lines out 50km into the middle of nowhere, but you might as well check.
Here, 578kbps broadband. At the uni (weekends) I get 10Mbps

kramy: that's not fair!
anyway, if you live in britain you can blame BT for inflated broadband prices. they refused to modernize the lines before, but now everyone wants broadband they're having to do it, but they don't like to work for a pittance. i heard there's a government inititive to get the whole country ADSLd as we're so behind other european countries when it comes to broadband.
RapidFlash, that is impossible since the limit on a phone line is 56, going over that is agianst the law and causes static on the line even for people around you.
I get 60kbs on a ADSL line.
