I was just wondering how many people in the DC community play a musical instrument.
Name of intrument:
What do you play for(fun, band, etc):
and how long:
here's me:
Electric Guitar, Clarinet, Contrabass Clarinet, piano
guitar-fun, clarinet-dont play anymore, contra-band, piano-fun
guitar for not too long, clarinet- 4years, contra-2mnth, piano-6years

I bought an Ocarina at a Sunday Market after I played Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It's soooo cool. I also have a guitar which I'm learning slowly but surely.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
I've been playing guitar for close to 2 years. Tend to bring my electric along to alot of parties...by request...just as entertainment value to my fellow drunken mates who don't realise I'm playin shit.
Besides that, i'm learning the keyboard. Although all I tend to do is convert guitar riffs to piano...and vice versa too with more success

Ive been playing piano for nigh on 5 years now. I dont bother with exams, I just use it to play songs Im interested in.
Ive recently purchased an electric guitar with my dad and bro, split the cost. It's pretty easy to learn because I can read music and know the basics.
'oh yeah? he's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?'
I used to play the piano, but was never much good at it... violin as well. I have a guitar but at present only know enough chords to form a nu-metal band.
Writing lyrics I find very difficult (particularly ones that don't sound stupid). What I find helps is writing them backwards, with the second part of the rhyme first - that way it doesn't look as if you were stuck for something to rhyme with your first line.
Maybe that made sense, maybe it didn't. Still, www.rhymezone.com is also useful in times of need (although some of the possibilities it comes up with are rather bizarre).
I try to write my lyrics about
Pretty basic, metalish stuff ya know:
bloodshed, darkness, evil, demons, blood, violence, more demons, maybe sum alcohol and even more blood AND women
I also noticed that (for me) writing rap lyrics is way easier than *REAL* ones (the ones to sing ). I dunno why....
For the one song i've actually written...music and lyrics...I just picked a topic and kinda slotted lines relating to the topic into the tune of guitar which I already had.
You can do it around the other way, so long as your lyrics follow some kind of structure that music can be written around it. I tend to prefer the former option because my guitar tends to talk better for me than my words.
