I use netscape 7.1, as I hate Internet Explorer, and I read somewhere the Mozilla Firefox was the most up-and-coming browser, featuring tabbed browsing and lots of other lovely features like integrated Google searching. To me this sounded a bit suspect, as Netscape 7.1 already has all of these things, so I downloaded Firefox. To my shock I see that it's almost exactly the same as NS 7.1, if not exactly. I know the Mozilla code is opensource, but to steal a program's user interface is just taking the mick. Now I'm wondering, which actually came first, and therefore who is the thief? Is it Netscape or Firefox?
And while we're on the subject, which browser do you use and why?
Netscape launched Mozilla, and Firefox is the browser-only portion of Mozilla. I think they just borrowed each other's features - cool stuff added in Firefox goes into Netscape, and vice versa.
(I use Firefox, mainly because it works a lot better than IE)
Opera is considered the best browser by many people. The two good things good about IE is it is guaranteed to work on any website, and it is slightly faster than the other browsers. Microsoft is also finally going to update IE in service pack 2 for Windows XP. They will add a pop up blocker and some other things so it might actually be on par with Mozilla and Opera for a change.

Hmmm...I'm not sure if IE is "faster" than other browsers. I think it's just always active, and using up memory, whether you use it or not.
A couple days ago my computer crashed. I tried to load netscape, and it took 14 seconds.(usually 3-6)
Yesterday my computer crashed, and I tried to load IE. It took 8 seconds to load everything and start.(usually 0)
Then again, it does use lots of standard windows stuff, so it can't be using up too much memory all the time.
Edit: I just realized the coincedences of those times. Incase you're wondering, windows was not farting(temporarily not responding).

i have netscape on quicklaunch which means it loads pretty much instantly... faster than IE sometimes.
I've got Mozilla, Firefox, and IE. I use IE because I noticed that it loads pages faster than Firefox does. Also, IE displays pages PROPERLY, and it supports the cool glowing text effect that Mozilla doesn't support.

Umm... actually IE doesn't show sites propely, opera, netscape and mozilla do. IE has LOTS of problems viewing valid sites... Instead, unvalid sites look good with IE. Hmm???
Microsoft invented lots of incompatible features exclusive to IE, and it doesn't support everything in the W3C specification. (CSS support isn't that great.) IE is also embedded into Windows, most of it is already loaded so that's why it loads faster. Use other browsers and stick a proverbial finger up at Microsoft

IE doesn't display pages correctly. Mozilla does, as Pyry says. People just design their pages with crap like FrontPage and make them work for IE (as the majority use it) and usually neglect other browsers. anyway it's nice to see people turning away from the microsoft oppression!
