When i added that new platform engine thingy, and i posted an ftp link, it didn't allow it so i made an htm page that gave a download page, I want to have an ftp link posted so I don't have to go through this inconvenience again, I use an ftp only service btw.

This may be an amateur programming community, but some people dont know certain things about computers (yes, it's true). If FTPs were allowed we'd probably get people submitting links like
ftp://geocities.com/mygame.exe?myname:mypass
or whatever the format happens to be, buggered if I can remember
It's a lot easier if HTTP links are only accepted for everyones sake.
There are plenty of places you can get webspace, Ech, in particular most ISPs offer free space without ads.

oh cuz i have been trying to find a decent host for a long time, and finally someone has hooked me up, unlimited filesize, unlimited bandwitdh, unlimited pop3 emails (Tho i'm too lazy to configure an email account.) But the only catch is that files can only be hotlinked straight from FTP, HTTP links don't work... But I guess i can live with a redirection HTML page...
Btw: the format is
ftp://echisketch:mypass@81.99.81.238/engine.gam
Second edit: I figured out a problem if ftp was allowed, urls would have to individually be cloaked so people don't get your pass, lemme see if i can get a system working for this ftp problem i am in..

You are supposed to get an FTP where you are allowed "public" accounts, which can only view and download files... not just get a personal FTP and then give everyone your password
i have a public thingy, it allows people to access my webpage, but the service passwords all non-internet viewed files eg: htm, php, asp. etc etc. so .gam .zip and .exe files of the sort have to be submitted in that manner.

a rule of life: NEVER USE IE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THEN SURFING! Come to think of it, you shouldn't even do that sence there is tons of better Browsers out there (Including My IE 2 and Opera) that has skins and other neat features(built-in mail anyone?)
