I have made AI in the past beutifally using a ball movement and the directional calculator without detectors. I have given klik rest, come back and lost the plot of how to do this decent. I can get it working with detectors but its still not as good as i remember.
Muggus posted a great tutor in the forums by some dude called Whizzkid (spelling?) from the clickteams archive, it was a TGF file with a few events and it was probably one of the best overhead AI detectorless engines i have ever seen.
Trouble is i cant bloody find it! Does anyone have this (**Glares at Mug man!**) on their HDD as i cant find it on Clickteam , or here...
Stupid windows crashing and causing me to only be able to type vowels with little lines on them...
Anyway, what I was trying to say Muggus was, yes, that's exactly what I meant! I've seen that example before but I didn't realise it was made by a DC member!

Goddamn you to hell 'Newbie' DC Rating... Go up, UP DAMN YOU!
(The tutorial area beta should be out by the end of my hols, another two weeks. Unless some other super weird bugs come up like objects being destroyed, checked number of them with counters to see if they are destroyed and they are still detected by my movement engine )
Oh and i have combined that engine with two detectors for a great AI engine, its virtually flawless , so double thanks , and your names in the credits .
Its got a custom car engine (using ye olde trigonometery rather than the dir calc, where you can spin out and slide and stuff and change gears, and cross a 30000 x 30000 playfield in 17 seconds flat out), and you can use the box to slow yourself down and stuff and there is a throttle and brake button rather than using break to go backwards for reverse.
Theres also a custom 8 dir movement for the player you play as, and an aiming reticule.
The event list so far is 27 kb (200+ bloody big events) and it still isnt bloody finished .
And im making it in TGF becuase I hate how people put it down .
Its all good HagarTech, it seems you had an extra soul in your filing cabinet listed under 'Q', i dont know why.
Good game actually, doesnt look too bad BUT as for the ai link Muggus it doesnt work. A little bit of fixy-fixy hmm?
If you mean the one uploaded onto my dodgy Freewebs space, you'll need to drag the link onto you explorer bar or something like that. I don't think it allows direct linking simply because it's dodgy.
