If you were playing a platform game, which key would you prefer jumping with?

i quite like shift or control. Space is good if you're using W,A,S,D for movement

I was thinking of something else... Is there another way of changing the controls in TGF except for the ugly ctrl+y menu?

You can use the TimeX object to retrieve the pressed key "string or ascii number" and store them. This only works with a custom platform movement tho

If it's an ordinary platformer like Sonic or Mario, use Shift.
If it's an action platformer where you must attack a lot, it's more useful to use CTRL as the jump key and Shift for attacking.

That should help. And personally, I've always used Shift or Space because I've gotten used to it.

Depends.
Arrow keys - Shift
Numpad keys - Delete or Insert
WASD - F, G, H
IJKL - F,G,H,1,2, Tab
Home, Del, End, Pgdown - 7,8,9 (numpad)

keyboards arent designed to work as well as most control pads are so there probably isnt a key that works for everyone.
space for me is too big
enter is too close to the arrow keys and doesnt fell right even with w,a,s,d for movement.
infact i like to use my left hand for movement and right for action
so if you use the arrow keys then mabye using a numpad key would feel better.
but i would have to adjust my keyboards position.

Arrow keys:
Jump - shift
Action - enter
Or
Arrow keys:
Z,X,C for actions.
That's what I prefer.
