Here's something for Christians to ask themselves that I have been thinking about for a long time: Is it wrong to "Put a smile on" just because you can? Jesus wept, didn't he? That's one of my personal favorite verses. Wouldn't it be lieing to do that? Did God's will ever include, "Woe to those with woe?" I mean, God WANTS you to be happy, but not to lie about it. Of course, its not wrong to be happy! It's just whether or not you should act like it. What about all of those inspirational posters saying, "Have a positive attitude!", or, "It takes less muscles to smile than to frown!"? I mean, this might seem like a stupid question, and I understand that, but seriously... just think about it. Is it wrong to "Turn that Frown Upside-Down?"

Dude, there be plenty of such advice out there, but for some reason, nobody even bothers to smile. Likely you'll have someone go about saying "HAHAHA... religious noob thinks he can change the world," then go about their usual grumpy lives.

I think these days, it's cool to be depressed/repressive. I once got misquoted around school as saying, "If I had a gun, I'd shoot everyone around me, then shoot myself" when what I really said was "If I had a gun, I'd kill myself then shoot everyone around me," but I guess people see what they want to see .

But besides the 'coolness' look amongst the angry, pathetic people, I really see no reason to frown.

Yea, I hate when people misintrepret what I say and gossip about it to thier friends... it's REALLY FREAKING ANNOYING.

Before you guys (in other words you, the reader) reply, try understanding the fact that I am ludicrously emotional and religious... I have the incredible ability to be depressed by almost anything... of course, I don't think its wrong to be happy, that would just be stupid . My question is, Is it right to misrepresent the way you honestly feel? In this particualr post, I'm just going to be throwing out stuff to contradict everything that I see that can be contradicted, I'm not really going to take sides. I'm just looking for an answer Just remember, I'm not asking this as if any of it is actually right, I'm just asking so I can know.

". . .And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow
But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself
It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
That is why I'm singing... Baby don't worry cause now I got your back.
And every time you feel like crying, I'm gonna try and make you laugh."

Bright Eyes - Bowl of Oranges

Don't quite know how it's relevant, but I thought of it when I read your post.

Your point is well taken, though you kinda missed the actual point a little bit... its about whether it's right or wrong to hide your actual feelings, and you missed the nail by an inch. That doesn't neccisarily justify disguising it, does it?

I smile all of the time because i'm making the most of my life by not be held back by religious beliefs or morals. I smile because I believe what I want to and do everything my way. I smile because I know i'm free to be myself as much as I possibly can within society. And I laugh in the faces of those who try to change that!

I laugh and smile way more than getting depressed and crying.

i think that everyone can choose how they react to a situation up to a certain point. I choose to not let any crap annoy me.
now if only the jerks and morons in the world wouls stop trying to piss me off it would be so much easier.

look... no one seems to understand what i am saying, so i might just delete this thread... pity that.

Ill probably get rid of this tommorrow unless someone can comprehend what i am asking for.

Im not talking about smiling itself... im talking about the priciple in is it right to smile even though your sad? Is it wrong to frown? Thats basically what i am asking for. Keep in mind, the top of this thread includes: "Here's something for Christians to ask themselves that I have been thinking about for a long time"

That means: I am looking for a Christian response. If you're an atheist, then i dont care if you argue, just try and stick with christian principles

Im asking about hiding the way you feel, not if what you feel is wrong

Ok, that SHOULD have set everything off a little better, but if not, this thread will go *poof*.

SAVE ME JEBUS!!!!!!!!

Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.

I love Jesus. He's allways with me. Even when I take a shower.
That freaks me out.

The content above makes absolutely no sense. But I guess you've already figured that out.

On a related thread: If lying is done for a good reason, with someone's best interests at heart, then it shouldn't be wrong. For example, if you were hiding someone who was going to be killed and you lie to people finding him (and he's innocent, you wouldn't hide any old con) then how can that be wrong?

Not everyone's 13 here, Dustin, and I think many are mature enough to discuss morality. (Even though they don't act like it sometimes!)

Yay! I finally have enough free time to get on my comp!

Phizzy: I'm starting to see the evil glow in your avatar's eyes... spooky

Andyuk: I realize that now, but its a little too late to say that, though. I'll keep that in mind, but still, i happen to be an excessively morale guy, and sometimes you can't help but blurt things out

Dustin: Speaking of morales, i happen to be more morale and mature than you, poopyhead!

Istvan: I'm offended now! If ONLY i could kick people off af a forum... oh well, i dont have the will power to make myself go through all of that clicking and mouse-moving if that was possible.

Ashman: You forgot to mention: quoth Homer. Hahaha

Simen: Are you suggesting that Jesus was gay?! Eww, my savior would be a hippocrite (and the fact that him being a hippocrite would make him a hippocrite is kinda funny (not that its true in my opinion (That was an oxymoron)))!

Chris Branch: Time to lay down the smite you with the Holy Word The intentions you had would be Good and Loving, and several of Jesus's parables taught that Good can come from Evil, but that doesnt make the Evil any more Good. Was that confusing? I dunno, but it depends if you can comprehend the incomprehensible. Basically, your intentions were good, but you're actions were Evil. You could say nothing and get punished yourself, and you can't be a Christian and not suffer, and many people misinterpret that as "god makes life easy, and anything wrong i do makes life harder" That interpretation would be like Buddhism, where good deeds lead to happiness and inner peace (I might be wrong, i only know the basics of Buddhism, so forgive me if i offend you )

I think that made up for my absence lately

All religions are just a path to inner enlightenment. The choice of path isn't important. What matters is that you make a conscious effort to understand yourself and the world around you -- why you exist, what you can do to make the world better etc. That's my 2 cents on religion for today.

Kirby: Not all religeon's are like that. Look at satinism. Lol, a very valid belief none the less.

Philipe: True, God does not want you to be hiding your fellings, and yes of cource the Lord did weep. But, if your feeling in any state that keeps you from your religeon, then you definatly should attempt to change it. And usually feeling sad does make you question your religeon in an unrealistic fasion. Now, I suggest you find something to make yourself feel better, it's never good to fake it. Find something that makes you feel better. For example, I have my martial arts, I weave chainmail, and plenty of friends to turn to for reassurance. Oh yeah, and ranting is always fun. I hope that was similar to what you were looking for, and if it's not, try rephrasing what you were asking for.

"I dunno, but it depends if you can comprehend the incomprehensible."

With this kind of comment, it's easy to get confused. :| Perhaps 'incomprehensible' and 'comprehensible' are like 'inflammable' and 'flammable'...
