I've got 3 'side games' here which I'd like to finish, but then... working on all 3 at the same time is bound to have none of them finished. So, now, yet again, I show you 3 games...

1. Snow Siege
I started on this game for that DC Christmas compo, just coz I wanted MMF 1.5. Coz of that, it was the only game which I worked on night & day. So, it's gone quite a bit further than it should have, but I gave up on it after a whole load of problems with qualifiers.

Pros: Could be the most 'realistic' castle sieging game in the community if it was completed
Cons: It may or may not be a good game. It's a pretty big gamble.

2. Trap Designer
I still have that preview of it and still working on it. It's a good game from front to beginning, if you like interactive fiction and other stuff where you get to play it in many different ways. The engine's practically fully done, I just have to put in the stuff for the levels.

Pros: It's more of a puzzle game with many different ways to finish a level, one of the few games of it's type in the world
Cons: I'd have to code every single possible way to finish a level, which makes the game pretty damn short for those who play to win, and not to enjoy the journey. Oh, and it's text-based.

3. Combatant: From Peasant to Knight
This is my masterwork game that I've been working on for years, though it's been re-made more times than I can recall. Fully planned, it'll be one of those games with offline multiplayer gameplay. Not much, but it'll have an interactive economic system, where old characters can make things easier for new ones. It'll have the most realistic battle engine out there, and one of the most advanced character interaction thingies in the community (specially since the community doesn't have much character interaction thingies besides TSE). Gameplay AND storyline... but at the cost of graphics.

Pros: Most advanced battle engine ever attempted (and technically possible), many possible styles of play possible, and extended storyline
Cons: Possibly over-complex gameplay, extremely long working times, and almost no graphics. Oh, I tried to hire an artist, but they ran away when I just told them to finish a puppet.

For those who want to see what I mean or just don't believe me and all... I've uploaded an emergency backup of all 3 games onto http://freebor.tripod.com/files/projects.zip ... just right-click > Save as. It's about 1 MB, so you don't have to download it if you don't feel like it.

And don't worry, I'll still be working on that ghostbusters game I mentioned as well as IOTM II. These three are just... personal projects.

"Most advanced battle engine ever attempted (and technically possible)"

You have thousands of collision detectors strapped to every part of your character's body!?

I don't know which one you should finish. Right now I've got a similar problem, actually.

1) Scrolling the events list in KnP crashes it now.
2) Jamagic has stopped understanding the term "Function". Oh god....
3) MMF not locating 4 extensions. (Yes, I have the latest version/build)

Think I'll go play Age of Wonders...

Hmmm... I think I meant to say "Most advanced battle engine ever attempted (and technically possible) in the Click Community", but I was too much in a rush to think right. Well, I meant something like customizable weapons & armor, with stats calculating speed, accuracy, damage absorbtion, blood loss, etc. I'd still bet 1000 DC points that no RPG battle engine could best it in the next 5 years, if I ever complete it .

Oh well, I'll take it that you voted for the third game .

And might I suggest you format & re-install your O/S?

I dunno... my heart's been pretty quiet since I abandoned Snow Siege. Maybe I'm undead or accidentally deleted my soul/heart/personality or something like that.

Then finish snow siege, and enjoy your game creation again.

Combatant sounds pretty awesome. But so does Snow Siege.

...I'm helpful, yeah?

I remember two castle sieging games (not made with MMF)

• Ramparts, where you destroyed castle walls to win
• Lords of the Table or something like that, where you took counties by attacking castles with an army. It was a good game and very tactical.

Potentially it could be a good game - I hope you continue it.

I try to make games that are fun, last long, and aren't too hard to make. (E.G. Breakout)

Vortex: Lol. No thanks. I still don't know why Jamagic isn't recognizing "function" in new projects, but it doesn't bug me since I've now got a "blank template" with all the gameinput/runtime init stuff disabled.(And it works in that.)

After running Defrag MMF picked up the extensions again.

KnP still crashes.

Alright, it's between Combatant and Snow Siege, which doesn't really help, considering I've just given Trap Designer out to a skilled friend, leaving me with those two options anyway.

Let's see... both of them are hopelessly ugly, one being text-based, and the other looking worse in more than one color. Both games give me headaches. Combatant would take a lot more brute work to finish, but Snow Siege has been prone to bugs right from the beginning... meaning that I'd probably have to re-do it. And surprisingly enough, with 20 coin flips, I still get 10 for each side.

Gah, maybe I'll work on Combatant while I'm here and on Snow Siege while I'm on my vacation.
