I think TGF is way better than MMF because you can make games faster without setting window sizes or modifying active objects one at a time. I know how to use MMF but making games takes a lot more time.I will just say that TGF is great for newbies but we all expect everyone higher than a standard user or a pro to use MMF.I am converting to MMF and i agree on how powerful it is.Post all your mean comments if you want to.

TGF better then MMF? Blasphame!

It's better to take time on your games. One shouldn't make games as fast as they can.

Lazarus is right. As much as I love TGF, MMF
is just, overall, better. I don't even own
MMF and I know this.

That is just common knowledge. There has been
much arguing about their image editing though.

MMF is superior because:
-26 alterable values per active vs. 3 alterable values
-10,000 object limit vs. 260
-Allows more animations (somewhere over 200) per active
-More stable
-No .gam file
-A lot more extensions

I agree that MMF is more powerful than TGF, but TGF is easier to use. I'm kind of addicted to MMF, but it's always a challenge to make a powerful game in TGF or even KNP (hehe I've made one in KNP for the KNP competition)...

It's a stupid question really. Which is better to use, Windows 3.1 or Windows XP? Okay, Windows 3.1 is easier to use, because there's less there. But obviously, nobody in their right minds would use it. It's just out of date and too limited.

Recently I convinced a truly die-hard TGF fan to just use MMF straight for a few days. A few days later they emailed me and said "Yeah, you're right... MMF is better...".
So, you TGF people, get with the current technology and stop complaining about so many things which are fixed in MMF. "How do I play MP3 with no bass.dll licencing?" use Directshow in MMF. "How do I change the transparency of something at runtime?" use MMF. "Why can't someone make XYZ extension for TGF?" because it's out of date and noone uses it any more. Get MMF which has all the latest extensions.

I bet mmf doesnt crash every fifteen minutes does it?

tgf may be easier to make simple games quicker, but mmf is less limited and so allows more complex games to be made.

yay this again

I use both TGF and MMF, I use TGF for doing gfx and simple
coding, MMF for the cool flashy stuff...its the same as my shoes,
I have a pair of real old shoes wich really fit well but look like
shit, and I have a pair of new shoes that look kinda neat but
its a horror to wear them, but I have to sometimes (for my job for example)

ok that was a stupid connection

Freeware? Wtf? The trial version is enough Good programming languages usually aren't freeware

I think it's the best to have both MMF and TGF. TGF for its simplicity, and MMF for its advanced features

TGF is seemingly easier to use for a first time user as the GUI is more simple. However if you give it an honest try I think you will agree with me, that MMF is better.

Not only is it more stable, it is also more powerful and once you get a hang of it, it is not at all difficult to use. I would not go back to TGF anymore.

Ahh!! My bleeding eyes! I leave TDC for a week and a half and there's already another TGF vs. MMF topic!

If the Borland C++ compiler I have wasn't so crappy, I would probably use that to make some of my more advanced games.

It's not even a question. It's like asking someone if he wants to make music on a toy keyboard or on a synth machine. Making music on the toy keyboard will be easier, but the results will be severly impaired.

It's worth the effort to use new and more advanced software in order to have better games, even if they take longer to make. Besides, MMF is not a very drastic shift from TGF, so why are you people complaining that MMF is way harder to use? That's being lazy and not interested/bothered to learn using new software at all.

i know c (not c++) but i still use tgf to make my games.

im pretty shit at c anyway so one line of code would produce about 18 errors.
At college i made a hangman clone and it nearly killed me.

i havnt touched it (c) since i left college 2 years ago so im even worse now

so i stick with tgf because its nice and simple and easy (ive been using it for about 3 to 4 years now)

tgf suits me because i never need more from it, my games are simple anyway so i wouldnt need mmf.

TGF is like... uh... taking candy from a baby... and... MMF...
is like... taking candy... from a grown man!

Sure taking candy from a baby is easier, but taking candy from
the grown man... gives better results?

Everybody come up with other comparisons!

Why is it easier to play on a toy keyboard than on a real one? I think it
sounds both shit if u can't really play it. Its easier to drive a toy train than a real one tho.

TGF may have an interface that is easyer for newbies, but overall, MMF in no way can match up to TGF, even if you are based on something simple, TGF just doesnt let you do half of what MMF lets you do!

Why on earth would extension devs want to withhold information to stop other people making extensions? I help people all the time with extensions, if you have a question, just ask...
Anyway, if you have a decent knowledge of C/C++, the SDK should be pretty easy to pick up. Oh, and use CICK.
