Catholicism comes under attack alot in this comunity. If it were any other religion, people would notice it more, but they don't. Because people think it is ok to mock Catholics, but to mock muslims isn't. This is horrible and it has to stop.
For example, in one thread, someone said that catholics were a walking, talking contradiction. If I were to say "Muslims are a walking, talking contradiction" I would be considered rude, possibly raciost and culturally insensitive.
on a side not, are there any other Catholic Clickers?

I just realise I have to back down, because I can't go my whole tdc life without bagging out at least one religion. For the single reason that mormons suck.

Oh, anyway, I don't agree with all that political correctness shite. Just about every religion has contradictions in it. That's why you have Muslim extremists interpreting some parts of the Qu'ran as having to fight non-believers (even though Christianity predates it by 6 centuries), and the majority of (Western) Muslims ignoring that and taking the peaceful teachings instead.

i detest ALL organized religion myself, it's just christianity (and in particular catholocism, which is fairly right and extremist) which gets me extra pissed because i've had to live with it around me all my life. i'd hate islam more if i lived in an islamic country.

Religion is full of contradictions, yes (free will plus god's omniscience doesn't work, more than two religions say you go to hell if you don't join their religion, etc). But religion does do some good. It brings communities together and makes people treat each other well. People on TDC aren't very religious usually, and look at us

religion dose do alot of good. i generally find the religous people are nicer and easyer to get along with than non-religious people.

Lol. As I backed out almost straight away I have no right to complain about all the "I hate catholics" posts in this thread. I never try to force my views on others, I am simply content with following my own beliefs. Also, alot of people say that I am only catholic because my parents are, which is not true. In my family we've always been alowed to chose what we follow, if I wanted to be hindu my parents wouldn't mind. Another thing is that I chose to go to a catholic school, as that was my choice.
But saying that you hate organised religion is sad, it is the disorganised ones you should worry about. Bizaare sects and cults are far more dangerous than Catholics. People say that Catholicism is extreme and right-wing, but this is only partly true. We differ greatly from fundamentalist christians as, whilst our religion is stricter, no-one is forced to become a part of it, and we don't go round banning books and films just because we disagree with them.
In summing up, catholicism is more about improvement of self than other christian religions. We believe that it is hypocritical to try and change the world, or our countries, when we ourselves are not perfect.
It's the typical left wing liberals that make fun of whites and their religions, but not at blacks or Muslims, and the typical right wing conservative who gets offended by it. I personally tease all races and religions equal, but not in a mean way. I go to church, but I don't believe in god. The only thing I hate about organized religions is that they don't make people responsible for their actions. "Oh, Suzy died of drunk driving? It was god's will!" or "Richard drown in a pool? Must be god's bigger plan." Or if you commit adultery all you have to do is confess your sins. I don't care what religions do, as long as it doesn't affect me in any way people can do what they want.
Zim, no offence to your kind, but I fucking hate Goths. We don't actually have those full on ones that wear completely white makeup in Hawaii because it's too hot, but at my school the unpopular Japanese kids wear black makeup and dress in black and buy those shitty shirts at "Hot Topic." You know, those shirts that say "You laugh because I'm different, but I laugh because you're all the same." They don't realize that those shirts are mass produced!!!! They wear the same goddamned misfits or rancid shirts every day with the spikes and the jelly bracelets and the leather with the spikes. And I have to sit next to the fattest and smelliest in Alg. II. And it's so goddamned ugly, if they dressed regularly they would look decent. They say they don't want to conform to our standards but they are just acting like little shits because they feel safe behind their makeup. One time I had to go to dinner with my church youth group and our resident Goth wannabe showed up in a trench coat with metal spikes. A TRENCHCOAT IN HAWAII!!! Well, because he is in my youth group I have to be nice to him and all, but goddamned I felt silly walking down the street near him in Waikiki.

I think many religions try to make people treat other people nicely, but for the wrong reasons. Christianity is like "be nice or go to hell" where i think it's better if it was like "be nice because then other people will be happy"...

No, it's not a stupid question. I go to a Unity Church, where they are pretty open minded. They believe in "Many paths, one power." So our belief is that all religions are different paths to the same thing, Allah, Buddha, god, energy, it doesn't matter. I go because I like the youth group and it makes me a better person. I swear less, I help people, and I have good clean fun. I also like learning the morals taught by religions other than Christianity. In fact, about half of the teens in my youth group don't believe in the bearded omnipotent man in the sky.
