I'm a newbie and I'm trying to make a game menu with three options.
Start,Story and Controls. I have a selector which stops beside each option as you press down and up. The problem I'm having is that when you press down on the top option it skips to the bottom and when on the bottom option and pressing up it skips to the top. I need ideas of how to make it stop on the middle option.

I'm feeling a bit wella

its quite easy really

if the pointer is a seperate object just make it move a certain amount of pixels up or down depending on what is pressed.

you may need to use a counter or alterable value to stop the pointer if you keep pressing up or down.

How are you doing it? The easiest way would be:

• Up is pressed
(Counter) : Subtract 1 from value

• Down is pressed
(Counter) : Add 1 to value

• Counter = 1
[highlight first option]

• Counter = 2
[highlight second option...]

...then

Counter less than 0, set counter to whatever the highest value is (in your case 2)
Counter greater than 2, set counter to 1.

for a nice loopy effect.
