Java is one of the worst languages in existance, and thank God Jama doesnt look anything like it apart from the common stuff you get every where like if's and while's and for's, etc
But learning a new language is always a lot easier when you have knowledge of another, since they all work the same way. The only thing that changes is the keywords you need to use. You know, if you want to print the number 1 to 10 on the screen, it works the same way in every language (a for loop around a print statement), it's just the words look a little different.
Jama is an excellent language because it's so simple to get complex things done, not just in graphics but other areas as well.
I guess my answer to your question is they arent similar, but at the same time they are. I know that doesnt make sense, but I know what I mean

I heart perl. And for a typed language, C++ is very neat because I can do funky stuff like //map<char*>::iterator moo = &(char*)dec->art++, thus obsfuscating my true intentions by scaring people and stopping eventual industrial espionage. That's why when I grow up I want to work at Microsoft!
I didnt say Java was the worst, Tiger, I said it was one of the worst.
The only good thing about Java is Swing, because you can create GUI's for software very quickly. That's the only reason I'm using Java for my current project I'm working on for Supanova. If my clients didnt want a GUI I'd just do it in C++ because it would be a lot easier and the program would run a lot faster. Unfortunately GUI's in C++ arent portable so that is the only reason.
