That was our 250th Game of the Week as well! Which means that we're on our 251st GOTW and here are the entries.

MMF2 hardware acceleration - 1000 unique objects, Combo Block Bomber : Rush *UPDATED* , -NIGHT LIFE- , Time Travel , Death Cage 2 - Nightmare Returns

OK, seriously. The hardware acceleration demo as a GOTW? ¬_¬

Posted by Bricnic 8th September, 2007

I voted for it, lolz

Posted by Flava 8th September, 2007

Nice work on your first GOTW post Broomie
And well done Nifflas!

Posted by Tim 8th September, 2007

This won GOTW!? Lol, of course I'm not surprised

Posted by LIJI 8th September, 2007

MMF2 hardware acceleration - 1000 unique objects - Sure win.
I told the guys from our demo that if we submit it as a download we would win for sure, but why listening to LIJI? -_-

Posted by viva/volt 8th September, 2007

Well that was a surprise . Go 1000 unique object demo!

Posted by Pixelthief 8th September, 2007

Zzzzzz, Hardware Accel demo REEEEAAAALLLY shouldn't be on the GOTW options. Please vote for a game, people -_-

Posted by DaVince 8th September, 2007

HWA is a demo/example and shouldn't be on GOTW.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 8th September, 2007

I'm kinda surprised that Death Cage 2 doesn't have more votes; it's open source and all. (Even if the game itself isn't that great)

Posted by Phredreeke 8th September, 2007

Ok, how about making another "Ultimate GOTW" award at GOTW FF? (FF is hexadecimal for 255 if you didn't know, kids)

Posted by Broomie 8th September, 2007

I wasn't sure to put the hardware acceleration demo on the GOTW at first. DaVince's demo was originally on it but I removed that as it was only a small engine and I was thinking the same for the HWA but because it signifies a big step for klik games and has been highly popular I left it.

This is the first time I've done a GOTW and I wasn't exactly sure what was acceptable and what wasn't. I'd rather let another admin decide whether or not we have it. Engines have won GOTW before.

And Phreddy, GOTW 300 is going to be the ultimate one.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 8th September, 2007

I'm a little averse to saying anything about this GOTW for obvious reasons; but the HWA isn't even an engine.

Posted by Fanotherpg 8th September, 2007

HWA is a presentation of capabilities and it shouldn't be in GOTW which means Game Of The Week not Presentation or Engine, but it is and it can left.

Thanks Shab for your comment about DC2 but I don't think that it would have lot of votes.

Actually all my productions (DC 1&2 - Shooters, Forbidden Way - Pseudo 3D Labirynth Game, Imperia - RTS) are open source but who cares? I made games for people not for GOTWs or other awards.

Ou and I've got question if now DC2 is in GOTW can I upload a newer version with corrected plot (which few persons mentioned that is unclear)?

Updates are always allowed.

Posted by Phredreeke 8th September, 2007

2^8 or 10^4/4 are much more significant numbers than 3*10^3

Posted by Joe.H 8th September, 2007

10^4/4 is just 10.. unless you mean (10^4)/4

Posted by Phredreeke 8th September, 2007

No, you calculate exponentiation before multiplication and division.

10^4/4 is the same as (10^4)/4

Posted by AfterStar 8th September, 2007

Ye it depends what you really meant .

4/4
10^ = 10^(4/4) and 10^4/4 = (10^4)/4
I think Joe assumed the first one.

Anywho...I think HWA has the whole package and should win as -->GAME<-- Of The Week!!!! j/k

Posted by AfterStar 8th September, 2007

__4/4
10^

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 8th September, 2007

enough people, go spam up a forum topic with your 10^4/4 nonsense.

Posted by Joe.H 8th September, 2007

yeah, I did maths, so naturally I assumed 10^(4/4) aka 10^1 aka 10

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 8th September, 2007

All the people who voted for Pete The Laid Back Rabbit over Knytt Stories suck! Seriously.

I mean, I could understand people preferring overall excellent games like...I don't know...Turbopac, Special Agent, Spuds Quest or Noitu Love over Knytt Stories, but Pete The Laid Back Rabbit is a game so full of flaws and holes to poke at than an objective gamer can only remain stupefied on this. But I don’t know, some people like trash movies. This could be it.

Once more, I’m sorry I have to mention Pete The Laid Back Rabbit in a negative way again, but this was called for. At least from my point of view.

Posted by Phredreeke 8th September, 2007

Type in (10^4/4) in Windows calculator and see what you get.

Posted by Peblo 8th September, 2007

It's okay Lachie, no one cares about your point of view anyways! Especially the 14 people you just insulted. ^^

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 8th September, 2007

I hardly believe you can speak for everyone.

Anyway, I have no problems insulting those 14 people. That was the whole point of my post. Personally, I would like to see them clarifying their choice. Somehow I doubt this will happen.

Posted by Peblo 8th September, 2007

Duuude, it's totally possible people liked the rabbit game rather than knytt. I hated knytt stories. Don't be so closed minded and assume everyone thinks JUST like you. ohmygosh people have a different opinion X_x wtf

Posted by CsaR 9th September, 2007

I agree with Peblo. But don't get me wrong I never vote for my own games(except for the time when I got my first game nominated for GOTW which was like 5-6 years ago I believe). I voted for Knytt stories aswell. If one of my games is in the GOTW I tend to not vote or to ignore that my game is a choice at all.

With that aside I must say that I find Knytt a bit lacking of stuff to do. I mean you basically just run around. I don't really get the whole "it's so good because of the ambient settings and the sound". I still feel it was the best game that week though but if it had been up against lets say last weeks gotw winner I would definetely pick that since I found that more enjoyable.

Posted by Fanotherpg 9th September, 2007

I've corrected plot so now is a bit newer version in DC2

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 9th September, 2007

Should I repeat myself? I have no problems people disliking Knytt Stories over something that is overall excellent or even good/very good, but simply quite different than Knytt Stories. But when someone votes for a game that fails compared to Knytt Stories is every single aspect (as is highly doubtful GOTW choice in general and not just compared to Knytt Stories), then I choose my right to call these people hopelessly tasteless or childishly jealous (sucky in one word), unless they are ready to clarify their choice. Simple as that.

If you hide behind an EXTREMELY DOUBTFUL "anonymous mouse button click" choice, I'm saying you suck.

Your right to vote, my right to question your vote.

Posted by Broomie 9th September, 2007

But you're still offending those people for their right to choose what they believe is GOTW. You can disagree with their opinion because everyone has a right to what they like and dislike, but not only are you saying the game failed in every aspect but you're claiming the people who voted for it 'suck.'

Constructive criticism is fine, but insulting the author and people who enjoyed it is wrong. I agree that Knytt Stories is better than Pete The Laid Back Rabbit, but I didn't find it bad at all. On top of that however, I would never insult the choice a user makes in what they personally enjoyed best. So please, respect other people's decision rather than insulting them.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 9th September, 2007

Keep on about it Lachie, and you'll find yourself on the other end of an admin warning. You've stated your opinion, there's no need for the continued insults.

In my opinion, I didn't like Knytt Stories. I tried to play it, but it failed to entertain or interest me. It's very well coded, but I didn't find any fun in the game. I had some fun with Pete; sure it was buggy, but it was also fun and I ended up playing it longer than KS. So it got my vote.

Posted by Nicklas_N 9th September, 2007

With my last release, Knytt, people had problems accepting the fact that people have different opinions, particularly since many hated Knytt, while some really liked it a lot.

It would be nicer if everyone would just respect each other's opinions. I don't mind at all if somebody likes Pete The Laid Back Rabbit more, but I don't do like when people start to insult, which is a bit too common on TDC.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 9th September, 2007

Nicklas, believe me; we thank you for that.

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 9th September, 2007

Knudde, your taste in games is sh...hrm, just kidding.

Anyway, I don’t think I should learn to respect other people's opinions. I have no problems with different opinions in general, only have problems accept those extremely opposite from mine, the ones I simply can't comprehend. Maybe I should just learn to ignore such opinions, as respecting them is impossible for me (nobody is perfect ). Once more, not talking about different opinions in general. But I'm sure I was clear.

Posted by Broomie 9th September, 2007

If you can't appreciate other people's opinions then it is better off left unsaid. There are many things I could disagree with but I choose to leave those thoughts to myself and not cause a hassle.

Posted by DaVince 10th September, 2007

People voted for Pete because I liked it. Even if it had some bugs. You not liking the game is just your opinion.

"Anyway, I have no problems insulting those 14 people. That was the whole point of my post."
Did you know that's called trolling?

Posted by DaVince 10th September, 2007

*they liked it

I voted for Knytt, lol.

Posted by DaVince 10th September, 2007

Another thing: it's not a matter of life or death. Nor are there any ethical questions. The games are just quite different. Even if Pete was buggy and not enjoyable for you, it was for me, so I could have voted for it if Knytt Stories wasn't here.

Now what's wrong with that? The game doesn't qualify as a GOTW game IN YOUR OPINION. I think it could qualify as one. Even when Knytt Stories is next to it.

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 10th September, 2007

Let's pretend I had a bad day and forget all this in a week or so.

Man, I need to learn to be stoic.

P.S.

On a side note, trolling is fishing for attention. That was not my goal, weather you believe it or now. I mean, do you remember me doing a similar crap in the last 2-3 years in here?

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 13th September, 2007

How about posting some links?

o.k. here's a link

Posted by DaVince 15th September, 2007

I still don't think a HWA example app should win. When people in the future are downloading GOTWs, they'd be all like "wtf is this shit? This is not a game... Oh, it even crashes."

Posted by Ricky 15th September, 2007

thats what makes it a game, if it crashes, you lose.
