New Engine: Ultimate Grid Movement
News posted 24th January, 2010 by The Chris Street
A user going by the rather irritating-to-type name of kksonwhowho has submitted a rather nifty engine - entitled Ultimate Grid Movement - to TDC. As you might have guessed, it's a grid-based engine - with many rather advanced features that can be discovered by viewing the download page :)

Comments from the Author:Hello, for about 3 - 4 months now I've been working on a fully commented grid movement engine that would work in MMF2. After all those months of hard work I think I'm finally finished.

you can change directions mid step, it sticks to the grid movement, but say you move left then quickly press another direction, the character sprite changes direction it's facing before finishing the movement, that's easy to fix though... there is a bug that pushed me like 100 pixels away, when the character stepped towards an NPC at the same time as the NPC was making a move, couldn't easily re-produce that bug though... and the AI is kinda... over kill? i'm sure there's a way where you don't need to give each enemy it's own movement...
