Your Chance To Shine! New Admins Wanted!!!
News posted 29th April, 2011 by The Chris Street
Since the administrational purge several months ago (removing David Newton, Rob Rule and Muz as TDC admins), and the departure of Flava, the opportunity has arisen for new blood to join the team at The Daily Click. New, fresh, delicious blood.

Of course, this means that this new blood lies in the form of hidden talent around the members of this site. Clearly a huge proportion of you have a talent of some sort in games creation, be it graphical, musical, or coding. But do you have the potential to be admin material?

If you feel you have some time to dedicate to this site, updating the front page with news, moderating the forums with a level head and accepting downloads, and wish for us to consider you as a potential administrator, please send me a submission request by DC-Mail.

The submission will have to meet two criteria: Firstly, you need to write a short paragraph explaining why you feel you would be a good addition to our team. Secondly, we require a sample news post. It could be about a new game submitted to TDC or an event; just something Clickteam related. Once you've fulfilled these criteria, please send off the message to myself.

The submission deadline is FRIDAY 13th MAY. Have a good, long think about whether you feel you have what it takes, and whether you have the time and commitment for such a role. All submissions will be reviewed by the current admin team, who will vote on the best. Potentially, two positions are available, so the two with the most votes would be selected if we felt the need for a second admin.

That's great news! I really hope we get two, fresh new admins!

The submission deadline is FRIDAY 13th MAY

scary

Posted by The Chris Street 30th April, 2011

Yup, thats why it was in capitals

Posted by Fanotherpg 30th April, 2011

Friday the 13th? My happiest day ever! I will post submission then : ) It would be my fifth time? But hey

Yay Hayo!

Posted by Blue66 30th April, 2011

New people we can blame for everything wrong in this world? Send em right in

Posted by W3R3W00F 30th April, 2011

Kind of tempted to try this, but I'm trying to figure out what the sample news post thing means. Like, writing out a description for a news post, or...?

Posted by Hayo 30th April, 2011

Just to be plain honest here, not to hurt any feelings. I am no admin material since I am never up to date with what the hell is happening in the click world and I like to remain rude when needed.
Fano would have to get a better grasp on English to be able to post readable news and Werewoof is still way too young and inexperienced in this community.

Honestly I can not think of any suitable person right now, unless there are invisible talents out there like last time.

Hayo I think you are the perfect candidate for admin.

Posted by W3R3W00F 30th April, 2011

I'm 17, but I see your point.

Posted by Fanotherpg 30th April, 2011

Hayo, it depends from point of view but I agree with W3R3W00F

Posted by The Chris Street 30th April, 2011

Sample news post is pretty much your own style of writing, its how you would write a post if you were an admin.

Were looking for relatively good english, well written examples. Dont forget you would need to be dedicated and put time, if there is a long period of inactivity we would question your commitment.

Give it a go, see what you come up with

Fano is your man!

"...Oh and don’t forget one thing – UK behalf like a dog when US tells UK to jump you are asking how high..."

Also, what are you agreeing with Werewoof about, Fano? :S

Posted by W3R3W00F 30th April, 2011

Okay, thanks for clearing that up, Chris.

I guess I'll give it a go; I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try. But if I don't make a good admin, I'll gladly step down.

Posted by Duncan 30th April, 2011

Australian Werewolf should make a great admin!

Posted by Hagar 30th April, 2011

I am thinking of applying, but although I know the ropes of the click world and have been here a long time I do have the habit of being a git sometimes if I think being a git is required!

My views on myself aside, I would like to see only well known community members getting the job(s) this time around (i.e. well known before becoming admins)

Good luck with finding some decent admins, TDC. Time is ripe for a "new beginning," so to speak.

Posted by Fanotherpg 1st May, 2011

Yeah Adam, briliant is quoting quote of quote of your countryman, and putting it to someone else mouth isn't it?

Probably I won't have time to work on next service, even if I would love to.

Posted by GamesterXIII 1st May, 2011

I'll take both spots.

Posted by Alonso Martin 1st May, 2011

Personally, I would love to see cryptic/irrational news posting.

Could just replace it with a bot that randomly picks a new download/preview etc. and says the same old things "exciting new game", "shouldn't be missed!" etc.

Posted by Matt Boothman 1st May, 2011

Thanks for accepting my application Circy. I won't disappoint.

Posted by Phredreeke 1st May, 2011

Yeah, you'd make a good admin

Posted by Marko 1st May, 2011

I would love to see Australian Werewolf and Matt Boothman give it a go

Posted by Hayo 1st May, 2011

Hagar for admin!

Posted by Cecilectomy 2nd May, 2011

i actually disagree hayo. i think fano's poor english would spice up the front page. hilarity would ensue.

Posted by Christodoulou Apps 2nd May, 2011

I vote for Fano

Posted by Johnny Look 2nd May, 2011

I think both matt, werewolf and hagar would make great admins.
Werewolf might be young but he's still more mature than a lot of us here and he's one of the more peaceful persons I see here. Plus the fact that he's young usually means he will have more free time, and being a good admin requires a lot of free time.

Posted by Marko 2nd May, 2011

Good point

Posted by Fanotherpg 2nd May, 2011

That's motivation Cecilizer

Posted by Jon Lambert 2nd May, 2011

"both matt, werewolf and hagar"

...

I don't get why everyone wants to be admin so badly.

It's the title, isn't it?

Or just to have a look around in the staff forums

Posted by Johnny Look 2nd May, 2011

jon: whoops, I first wrote "both matt and werewolf" but then saw hagar could be a candidate so I added him to my post and forgot to delete the "both" part.

Posted by Blue66 3rd May, 2011

Wouldn't that be totally AWESOME if we ALL were admins?? WHO'S WITH ME!!

Posted by Bricnic 3rd May, 2011

Just thought I might point out to Duncan and Marko, and whoever else might be confused... Austrian != Australian.

Posted by Muz 3rd May, 2011

I don't think English and age are really big factors. I was admin for the first time when I was around 15 or so, and a lot of others were also young. And it's not like Rikus had the best English

IMO, the biggest requirements are passion and a thick skin. I don't think there's a lot of candidates around, so everyone who's interested should give it a go. Anyone who's excited about sharing news has good potential.

Well I have penned some words and sent them to Circy.

Cheers Johnny Look and Hayo .

Posted by Liquixcat 3rd May, 2011

I'll post do what Circy: (English)

From the administrative purification, many suffered months (David Newton, that it removes the Rob regulated and Muz like TDC admins), and the departure of Flava, the possibility it is introduced for the new blood for being of group in occasion of the daily click member. The new fresh and delicious blood.

Natural, it means this that this new blood has hidden the talent under form around the members of this place is found. Gigantic participated a talent clearly or other type in, the realization of graphical musical game, they he, or codifies. But you must be admin material it upgrades them?

If felt you have this that it approves of the time in order to dedicate to these that it brings up-to-date with the news, the tribunes with a level head moderate and downloads, and it augurs to us to consider them of a lot me administrator upgrades them, a question of DC-Mail presentation sends.

Do win I?

has anybody seen my wife?

Posted by Hagar 3rd May, 2011

Posted by lembi2001 3rd May, 2011

I was thinking of applying but if it is a community decision then it will turn out to be more of a popularity contest, so I wouldn't stand much of a chance.

If it was judged purely on merit then I think I would stand a bit more of a chance.

I'm not posting this to start an argument just merely putting my opinion across

Posted by Ski 3rd May, 2011

"Do win I?"

I want to read news, not paragraphs of blag and waffle.

Posted by Hagar 3rd May, 2011

Lembi - it's purely the admins decision from what I have gathered (judged from what you write), so give it a go dude .

I thought i read it "Australian" when i posted that - my bad if i got it wrong (when i knew it had always been "Austrian"!)

Posted by Johnny Look 3rd May, 2011

I don't think having a perfect english is an absolute requirement and making some mistakes from time to time is no big deal, but no offense, fanotherpg's english is atrocious (not that mine is perfect) and decode his newsposts will be more of a pain than a pleasure. Plus his poor english might lead to some misunderstandings when it comes to moderation, there's always the risk of him making wrong decisions because he misunderstood what an expression meant or misinterpreting someone's intention.

I don't want to offend fanotherpg, but simply imagining almost every newspost being written in broken english turns me off pretty bad.

I don't want to be an admin. I'd rather be making stuff.

Posted by Johnny Look 4th May, 2011

by the way I just noticed flava was leaving. Does this mean there will be no new site after all ?

I don't know if he's still around but thanks flava for all your contributions to the site, sad to see you go.

Posted by Ricky 4th May, 2011

If i was an admin, i'd copy the admin forums and post it on the internet. I'd call it Ricky Leaks

Posted by Yai7 4th May, 2011

I apply for Administration.
If you choose me, I will refuse to ban, I will cancel any ban on this site, for I see that trimming of communication, even if is hostile is never a solution

I will as well, be passive, I won't do much, but in case I'll have any extra points, I will donate them for a goal that will serve anything that has a shared interest, as I have a shared interest.

The only reason I will ever ban a user... I hope, is when he post a picture of a rainbow with a pot of gold... Just for the kicks, just for having rules! Never do this when I admin, or I'll consider banning you forever! Rainbows with pot of golds at the end on them will not be allowed on this website! For... The kicks of it... I guess.

Elect me!

"I was thinking of applying but if it is a community decision then it will turn out to be more of a popularity contest, so I wouldn't stand much of a chance.

Well, there have been quite a lot of admins who were underdogs. In fact, nobody really expected me to get picked as admin back then And in many cases, a lot of the lesser known names were picked too.

Seeing that the criteria is based on a short essay and a sample news post, it's probably going to be done by merit.

It doesn't take too long anyway, you'll never know if you don't apply.

So who will it be

Posted by Jon Lambert 4th May, 2011

I don't know, we still have like nine days for submissions?

Posted by Phredreeke 5th May, 2011

Yay! Nastyman is back!

Posted by izac 5th May, 2011

I have sent a private message TheChris Street, let me know if it arrives!

Posted by Sketchy 5th May, 2011

I realize TDC is not a democracy, but is there going to be any kind of public vote - just in case it might sway your decision?

Posted by The Chris Street 5th May, 2011

Either the TDC admins will fairly review each submission and make a choice as to who they genuinely feel is the best, or the TDC admins will decide who are the best few people, and allow the community to vote for a single person by poll

Not totally decided yet but leaning towards the latter option.

Posted by Johnny Look 5th May, 2011

Why not do both things ?
Admins could take a look at the candidates, choose the ones they feel are good enough and then create a poll and let us have the final choice ?
This way there are less chances of a bad admin being chosen because of his popularity.

Posted by The Chris Street 5th May, 2011

"or the TDC admins will decide who are the best few people, and allow the community to vote for a single person by poll"

Posted by monkeytherat 6th May, 2011

I don't suppose I'd be considered admin material...

Posted by Eternal Man [EE] 6th May, 2011

Not by some, no.

Posted by The Chris Street 6th May, 2011

Well before I became an admin in 2002 I was probably more immature and disliked by some.

2011... not much has changed... maybe apart from the immaturity bit

Have a go Monkeythreat, if you're interested.

Posted by Muz 7th May, 2011

If it was a democracy, I'd definitely vote for Ricky. That Ricky Leaks idea sounds like a fun one.

Posted by W3R3W00F 9th May, 2011

Personally, I think Johnny Look, Marko, Sketchy, Duncan, Hagar, S-m-r, and Fanotherpg would all make good admins.

Posted by The Chris Street 9th May, 2011

5 admin submissions so far and you only have this Friday to submit!

Posted by Muz 10th May, 2011

Which Friday? There's almost a 24 hour difference between Australia/NZ Friday and US west coast

Posted by Ski 10th May, 2011

Honestly, Hagar has been here so long, and along with smr they are the only ones I can say I havent seen being abusive, or in a forum fight.

Posted by Eternal Man [EE] 10th May, 2011

Hagar +1

Posted by Jacob! 11th May, 2011

I vote Adam for Admin. Not only does it make a catchy campaign slogan, but he has much more love for TDC than anyone else I have seen. Just look at his avatar to see how much he loves everyone!

Posted by The Chris Street 12th May, 2011

You have one day left to make your applications! After the weekend I will send all submissions to the admin forums and we'll take it from there.

Posted by The Chris Street 14th May, 2011

Time is up! Thanks to all who submitted, ill add the submissions to the admin forums on Monday.

Posted by Hagar 14th May, 2011

Thanks for the comments Adam and EE Man . I am not counting any chickens. Just waiting for the result, whatever it is.

I shall be plagueing this site again normally next week, I am on my way back from China (waiting in Hong Kong airport).

Posted by Hayo 18th May, 2011

Yeah we saw Rikus shuffling around in the back

Posted by Ski 18th May, 2011

Oh god, lol. Expect the worst decision then.

Posted by Eternal Man [EE] 19th May, 2011

Not that I like how things are, but does Rikus opinion matter now when he has stepped down as an admin?

Posted by Jon Lambert 19th May, 2011

He stepped away, not down. He still owns the place, just taking a vacation essentially. Like Steve Jobs only he's not sick.

Posted by Ski 19th May, 2011

or a turd that won't flush

Posted by Eternal Man [EE] 19th May, 2011

Ah ok, I just recalled an admin literaly using the phrase 'has stepped down'.
