Comicfest

Let's face it, we're all computer nerds, and what computer nerd doesnt like Japanimation? On the 16th and 17th of November, The Vault will be hosting their bi-annual manga, anime and scifi festival: Comicfest! With international guests including voice actors from Dragonball Z, Team Red Star, The Phantom, not to mention huge discounts on comics, DVDs and a whole lot more! If you've been to any of the previous events you'll know just how huge Comicfest is, so if you live in or around Sydney, I hope to see you there, dressed up as your favourite character, or with vocal cords ready for the Kamayhamayha competition! I think anime is (*b)great!(*b) Don't say it sucks unless you draw better than anime! Btw, it's true that many nerds don't appreciate anime... that's why they're nerds!

Anime is just cartoons... Like US cartoons... Or any other... It just depends what appeals to your taste. Japan has many great genres of their animations. Not too much of comedy centered ones as US cartoons are.

Anime is nice, not all of it tough. I`m interested on ALL kinds of animations also. DRESSING as characters is kinda lame...

Wow, after my frequent talks on IRC about anime, I'm suprised that so many people say they dont like it considering everyone I talk to loves it. But it's always the way that the people who disagree have the loudest voices.

Um how is Japanimation like US cartoons. US cartoons are usally animated really well with lots of frames. Japanimation is really lazyily animated! The characters always have a stiff feel to them, and most Japanimation doesn't make any sense at all.

I apologise for saying that cosplay is lame... and has anyone watched Rurouni Kenshin "Tsuiko Hen"? Just to tell Sun Fun Dude that there are great animes out there, so quit staying at home and watching Disney and then saying that anime can't compare to the "superior" american cartoons.

I've seen Kenshin (as well as all the OVA's and the movie), it's on my favourites list along with Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Neon Genesis..........

Anime is good stuff, and there's a ton of comedy-oriented series. The only problem is that some people seem to think the stuff shown on TV is all there is, but the majority of the good stuff has to be obtained by buying the DVDs or through other means. It's all worth it for great shows like GTO and Excel Saga though.

anime is great (or it isn't too bad) but i don't call DragonBall Crap err...DragonBall Z an anime. Akira, Ghost in the Shell, City Hunter (<- One of my favourites), Gun Smith Cats, Cowboy Beebob, The Vision of Escaflowne...this is great stuff! Very cool and very well drawn. Dragonball Z is very bad animated. When guys in DBZ speak you see them from the back so the animators didn't have to animate a mouth. And DBZ is so boring! Episode 512: Son Goku is walking on a meadow...Episode 513:He's still on the meadow 514: "Where's Son Goku?" "He's on a meadow!" 514: Some other DBZ guys are now on the meadow, too... Mangas are Mangas and not comics! Comics are funny (Comedy) Mangas are not really funny. The jokes are mostly silly or about seeing the slip of a girl. Read the Mad Magazine than you know what Comics are.

I don't like it too (just play some games, like mugen with dbz chars). and pokemon is considerede anime? anyway, the only "animation series" i've been watching recently is Starship Troppers that shows after BattleDome in AXN. and recently I watched some episodes of mon cole knights (is that the right name?)

LOL, I thought I was the only guy who didn't like j-anime. Don't get me wrong, it's cool and pretty and all. But like 2-bit games, too much of a good thing gets cheesy fast. Still, Jap anime isn't unoriginal, it's just famous coz ppl like it...but it's still cheesy coz everyone uses it.

I'm a computer nerd, and I personally think that Japanimation is the worst thing that has ever happened to any form of art, anywhere. So don't discriminate against those of us out here who are artistically sane.

Alright - its called 'anime' and saying flat-out that you dislike it is like saying you think American movies blow, full stop. If you take time to look around the industry you'll find something that appeals to your tastes, because there are many different sub-genres in anime. Its rather like saying Saving Private Ryan sucks because you've seen an episode of the Teletubbies. Don't be so narrow minded.

yeah, and not ALL anime is good, neither ALL of it is bad, and look, Anime art is sometimes way more artistic than american comics so shut yer yap, and go se some CLAMP illustrations if u wanna see something really artistic.
