Project Overview

What is Project Nintendo?

It's been 10 years since I last completed a game (RoDney)

I was inspired by recent fan games that mix nintendo characters together and thought it would be cool to make my own.

I am by no means an 'expert' fusion game maker but the main focus is to make the game fun.

I have no idea if I'll ever finish this, but I hoped to get people interested to motivate me.

Just posting to let everyone know that I have not stopped working on this game. Development HAS slowed down but not to a halt.

Current fixes:

- MegaMan animations fixed, he can now run and shoot, jump and shoot with one arm.

-Enemies and Sound FX added to Castlevania stage

- A few more levels mapped out

I searched and searched but could not find Mega Man jumping or shooting sound effects so I had to rip my own, along with castlevania FX. It wasn’t much work at all.

Instead of posting a new devlog every other day and spamming the daily click project page, I've decided to make updates once a week.

I will be keeping regular updates on my webpage (yet to be created)

Progress Update

A friend gave me a great idea to put a gameboy level in it, so thats exactly what I did. (ScreenShot 1)

I got my first taste of real work today editing the castlevania level. Theres probably 50+ candles in the stage and the stage map I used has all the candles in. (ScreenShot 2) What does that mean? I'm going to have to erase each candle and fill in the background so that when one is destroyed you don't just see another candle. Theres ways around this but either way will be tedious. I guess it can't be all that easy.

I've just been messing around with importing levels so far, I have to get working on the actual engine, making the controls more mega man like. BUT I do like the crosshair + keyboard movement scheme.

I added the Mega Man 'hit the floor' sample, it took me a LOOONG time to find it on the net. I took away the point counter for now, I was having some problems getting the sample to play only after coming down from a jump so I used more events then I should have to get it to work. (the counter that you see in the demo now is the JUMP counter)

I also added a huge mario at the end of the level just for kicks, tweaked the shooting animation (I know theres still work to be done there) and tons of bricks to smash, for some reason it's satisfying to destroy tons of bricks

Thanks to MR.Bean for the easier solution.

TECH DEMO RELEASED 3-26-08

The score counter is something I put in very quickly just for kicks.

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm concentrating on making the game fun. Theres quite a few bugs, goombas dont fall or reverse at pits. Turtle enemies are static for now.

I might do away with the whole crosshair movement and make it play like Mega Man.

Please let me know what you think, the most important question to me is, Is the game fun?
