What started off as an experiment in working with custom movements has morphed into a completely bizarre shoot-em-up dedicated to America's classic diners.
Mornings without coffee were never like this! Defend your saucer from the cinnamon rolls, plates of bacon, and other malicious breakfast foods that come your way. Cause mayhem at the crack of dawn with caffeine, spoons, and the infamous creamer bomb powerups!
Features to be implemented:
complete game control using the mouse
a wide variety of standard enemies and even a few breakfast bosses thrown in there
unlockable bonus content, from new skins to slideshows
an odd sense of humour, for certain
Maybe this will be done by Autumn 2009. Progress has been swift.

Yes, the version 1 demo of Breakfast Battle is now available! Download it here:

Also included with this update are some screen shots of current progress; be sure to check them out!
QUICK SUMMARY:
MOVE your saucer around the game field by moving your mouse; your coffee cup will trail behind, following the saucer.
PRESS AND HOLD the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to squirt out some coffee.
CLICK the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON to launch a creamer bomb, which will eventually explode and damage all enemies it touches. Please note that you have a limited number of these.
AVOID the breakfast foods, and the projectiles they shoot at you.
EARN POWERUPS by shooting the cinnamon rolls; after 6 are destroyed, a random powerup will descend from the top edge of the screen, each with a unique effect on the player.
Most enemies will take several hits to kill; bosses (the larger breakfast foods) will take many more.
Two bosses are included in this demo: TOAST and a SHORT STACK.

Demo will be released tomorrow, and the devlog will be updated...including screenshots and a Daily Click contest!
It's still looking like let-off studios is on track for an Autumn release of Breakfast Battle. Player feedback is key for this effort.

Looks like the issues with spawning bosses seems to be all sorted for now. I'll be building the omelette next. Two bosses down, three to go.
Last night, I put the formative touches on the latest enemy: flying packets of grape jelly! They swoop down, and once they've reached the apex of their path, they launch out a blob of jelly at the player.
Once the third boss is put together, I'll release a demo to receive some feedback from the community. Screen shots are not to be released until that time. Perhaps the end of August...?

I'm currently having some trouble with the bosses emerging when they're supposed to; currently, boss 1 is fine, but boss 2 comes out immediately after boss 1 is completely defeated.
Working with Counters and Alterable Values to make it work; I just need to work a little more simply, I'm sure...
