Project Overview
Preview Explore the galaxy!

Space...
The final frontier...
These will be the voyages of the courageous souls
set upon exploring a seamless galaxy.
Their mission; to boldly go wherever they want to go!

Yup, a galaxy explorer type of game, inspired by Elite and it's ilk. Explore a seamless galaxy and fight baddies on the way!

This is one of my longterm projects I've been fiddling with about a year now. Finally I solved a few kinks enabling me to continue development, so hopefully it'll stay on that track!

Time factor please

Quick update;
I've successfully implented a time factor in the engine. As you might have guessed this allows you to increase the ingame time flow, shortening long travel periods. It's quite fundamental in a game built around realistic distances cause hey, only a douche manouvers stellar space at 200C.

I've also started fiddling with elongation of stars at +C velocities. The screenshot doesn't really convey the feel and look though. ^,^

The camera system is also fully functional, including the zoom option. I really wanted to get a good combination of field overview and aesthetics. So you can switch zoom factor between max view/tiny ship, lesser view/nice ship and a combination of the two. The screenshot is at max zoom.
And so it begins...

W00p w00p! First devlog!
I started this project page now since I solved a few distance/velocity issues.
The galaxy is created using proper distances, i.e you need to travel close to the speed of light for about eight minutes to traverse one Au(astronomical unit), and an average solar system will span approximately 50Au.
So you better start saving up to that hyperdrive!

The reason for this first post is simply to celebrate that I travelled approximately 150 000 000 000 pixels with my little test ship at a speed of ~300 000 000 pixels per second reaching my first Au!
