Project Overview
CHOLO - A remake of a pioneering 3D wireframe game originally released on 8-bit computers. The remake runs on Windows and has one or two improvements.

Comparable to Elite in the fact it's 3D, this 1986 adventure bares little resemblence otherwise.

You are Jarred, a survivor of a colony who lives deep underground in a bunker controlled and maintained by the computer. The surface was abandoned years ago, too much radiation, or so the computer says.

The population are generally content, having all the comforts they need. Jarred however is far from content...

The game itself puts you in control of a robot, Rizzo, who can wander around the city on the surface. Your job is to discover the trueth about Cholo.

The game is complete, bar final testing. Just the website and help to build so should be ready in a couple of weeks.

Background to the game: We originally started the game in Jamagic, over a year ago. We got quite far but unfortunately due to some bugs that never got resolved in Jamagic's 3D engine, it became too difficult to continue. We searched around for alternatives and got quite interested in Irrlicht, an open source 3D engine. However, its still a chore to write C++ so we continued looking and finally settled on Blitz3D. Although the language is not a patch on Jamagic, it does do it's 3D very well and is relatively simple to use. Maybe we'll come back to Jamagic for 3D when (hint-hint Francois!) Jamagic 2 is released with a brand spanking new 3D engine.

Anyway, keep an eye out for the game and website. Hope you enjoy the screenshots.

Ovine.
