Genre Selected: Action RPG-Lite Side-Scroller
Posted 5th Feb 09, by Jon Lambert
First of all, I'd like to say that I don't intend on making devlogs about everything that happens here. Eventually progress will slow anyway (as in, there will be less notable things to post about as people get to work on the more tangible parts of the game).

So we've decided that the game's genre will be an action side-scroller with RPG elements. If anyone has anything against that, go ahead and make your case in the forums. For now, we will start talking about style. Should it be dark? Joyous? Gritty? Funny? Satirical? After we get the style down, we'll be able to move into features, then things that rely on style such as programming, sound, music, and graphics.

Come on people, let's get discussing!

Good genre choice, I hope that it'll all work well. For style, I think it should be funny at some points, like funny lines, people, stuff like that but not make it turn into a silly game. Also, I personally like games that have a large, non-linear (but not non-linear enough where you could get lost though) style world.

I think you should have the areas based on actual click games and projects, sorry if jumping the gun, and should have tons of styles based on them. For example, an Old Man Clayton level might be really silly, where as something like an Orphanage level might be really series.
